S. started off a busy school year by participating in the annual magazine drive. To start our social calendar we held a Mod- ern and Old Fashioned dance September 28. This turned out to be a social success but with a slight financial loss. Of course with No- vember approaching rapidly we Juniors were all in a hustle and bustle preparing for their greatest event of the year, the Junior Hop. The decorations for the hall were based on the Gay Nineties theme. Everyone had a stu- pendous time and to the surprise of us juniors, it was even a financial success. The Junior class contributed many fine ball players to the invincible Guilford High School team. The boys who made the team Were: Joe Vitali, Arthur Fonicello and jay Sullivan. i l i ' 4 l I P., Of if' 3 fi -l P5 I1 , SUPTHWUURE CLASS Row l R51-rfnii, YYli:iliiiV, llaixif, linvellzly, Vlzirk. The function of the Coun- cil is to supervise the student social activities, association funds and school policies. DEANIE CO1-IEN KAY SULLIVAN This year the Council chose six cheerlead- ers, two boys and four girls. In addition to its regular activities, the Council sponsored the annual magazine drive, Rampage, and year book. There was a profit of four hun- dred nine dollars on the magazine drive. Mr. Kavanaugh acted as our advisor after his return from the U. S. Navy. Row I - Sullivan, Norton, Papa, Reed. Row 2 -- Seussel, Horan, Morse, Scranton, Lnnglands, Doolittle. RAMPAGE STAFF The school year 1945-1946 saw the revival of the Rampage, our monthly scholastic edi- tion. The editorial staff, working in col- laboration with a very competent group of contributors, attempted to publish a paper that would interest all students of G. H. S. from the lower school up. The Rampage served as a means of express- ing student opinion, contained the ever in- teresting news from the office, and gave our promising journalists a chance to gain some invaluable experience. New ideas were added and old ones discarded in an attempt to main- tain a timely and interesting publication. A cover decorated each issue which contained a few more pages than previous years. Through our exchange system we were able to keep in contact with our shore line neigh- bors and compare ideas with them. All in all, an honest effort has been made to make this year's Rampage a well balanced and informative paper. Iiww I Smith. Il':XrIIiI'II. A vet- eran combination consisting of Clore, Lin- skey, Hubbard, Fonicello and Vitali, played hard and smart basketball. Linskey and Hubbard were outstanding in their defensive work. Saybrook was the only team to defeat us in the regular season and sweet revenge was ours when they came to Guilford to lose a close game by the score 24-23. Play- ing on Saybrook's floor in the Hnals, the boys had little luck with foul shots and ended up on the short end of the score. With most of the team graduating, pros- pects for next year do not appear very bright. However, the Guilford spirit and fight will provide our ardent fans with many a thrill- ing moment. Welvhl- THE CHEER LEADERS Four girls and two boys made up an en- thusiastic cheerleading squad supporting this year's basketball team. Effective, well-given cheers were Guilford's throughout every game. The Senior, Junior, Sophomore classes and the Seventh grade were represented. With the addition of the acro- bats, Tommy Fonicello and Leslie Sullivan, a clever pattern of cheers was developed. Con- gratulations to the cheerleaders for a job well done. BASEBALL The prospects for a fine baseball season this Spring look exceedingly good as eight letter- men are returning from last ycar's team which enjoyed a fairly good season with a record of six wins and Eve defeats. There are also several younger inexperi- enced players who show signs of promise and will undoubtedly make last year's regulars hustle to hold down their coveted positions. The returning lettermen are as follows: Pitchers-Clore, Linskeyg lst base-A. Poni- cellog shortstop-Joe Vitalig Catcher-John Vitalig outfielders-Briggs, Tichy. '4 Q s., 3, - V 1 H az! I f .
