' dweniy-jijid year On Thursday, October 16, and Friday, October 17, educators from near and far gathered at Guil- ford College for the Guilford College Convocation on Liberal Education, honoring our president, Dr. Clyde A. Milner, in his twenty-fifth year as president of the college. Thursday morning Capus Waynick, Adjutant General of the State of North Carolina, introduc- ed Dr. HoUis Edens, President of Duke University and first speaker of the convocation. At the special luncheon Dr. Franklin H. McNutt, Dean Emeritus of the Graduate School of the Univer- sity of North Carolina in Greensboro, spoke to the guests and commended Dr. Milner for his contributions to education. Stringfellow Barr, Pro- fessor of Humanities, Newark College of Rutgers University, gave the afternoon address. Howard Brinton, Director Emeritus of Pentlle Hill, was the central figure of Friday morning ' s program. The Ninth Ward Lecture by J. Flo d Moore, Associate Professor of Bibical Literatuu ' and Religion at Guilford, spoke on Rufus Jones The A Cappella Choir under the direction of Carl C. Baumbach, sang at these four major gath- erings. Visitors and friends gathered in Founders Hall to greet Dr. Milner and to show their appreciation for his outstanding work.
