He will be missed by everyone because he meant so much to those around him by the way he returned his love to others in his caring way. Even though he was only able to spend a short time with us, he brightened a lot of days for many and now has left a part of himself along with many cherished memories for each of us. We will always be grateful for having been able to share in a part of his life. We will remember him and keep a place in each of our hearts for Tim always. Linda Langton 10f23f81 Duane CSpikeJ, No one really knows why this happenedg I guess you don't even really know. If only we could go back to the good times we shared. We will always remember those times as if they were yesterday. We know you enjoyed those good times just as we did. Knowing this takes away some of the hurt, but the pain will never leave us. We believe that you will always be here with us. People tell us that as the days go by, it will become easier to accept the fact that you are not here with us. Everyone misses you in a different way because everyone loved you in a different way. The days will never be the same without your smile to brighten them. We hope you have found your happiness and will protect us in your own special way. We will always love and remember you. The Creative Arts School has been designed for students with above average interest andfor ability in one or more of the areas of music, art, dance, theatre, and videofcin- ema. A very important aspect of the Creative Arts School is its homeroom. Another important part of the Creative Arts School is the opportunity it offers to explore the arts outside the class- room. Examples areg a music clinic with the Skip Parsons' Jazz Band. a trip to New York City to see the Metropolitan Museum, Evita and the New York City Opera, a pottery demonstration, and trips to Proctor's to see the American Ballet Theatre, and Williamstown, Mass. to visit the Clark Institute Art Museum. 'o I lo it A xim W The Senior Alternative Experience CSAEJ is a community school program at Guilderland. SAE was founded in 1972, and is one of the oldest alternative programs in the state and perhaps the country. SAE allows the members of the senior class to complete graduation requirements through com- munity experiences, independent study, specially designed SAE courses, regular high school courses, or college courses. Students are given the opportu- nity and the responsibility for creating their own academic programs based on their goals and needs. The community experience gives each student in SAE an opportunity to go out in the communi- ty. Students use the experience for career explora- tiong others take college courses to help them with the transition from high school to college, and still others volunteer as a community service. To really reap in the true benefits of SAE the students must be self-motivated, independent, and responsible. It has been a wonderful experience, though it's not all play and no work. Aside from a difficult language, I am attending a Danish high school, the Middelfart Gymna- sium Cthe Danes have a good sense of humorl, and I am taking no less than eleven courses. On the train ride there every day, all one sees are little old farms and churches, small towns, and rolling hills. It is a small land, only one-third the size of New York State, but is filled with many sights and a beautiful countryside. The time spent has taught me a lot about myself, our country, and other places and people, as well as being pleasurable. Venlig hilsen, Brian Cullen ii...-L.-.m ...Y .., EX0h3H8'6 Students Hi! My name is Gunn Thomsen and I'n1 a Rotarv exchange student from Denmark. I live in the north- emmosf town of Denmark which is right. by the Mean, The school in Denmark is very different from Guilderland. You cannot make up your own sched- tile. and you have to take eleven subjects. Also, my school doesn't give me any credit for being here thfs vear. But I don't think I will ever regret that I came. Being an exchange student can be difficult. There's a lot of things you have to get used to: the language, food. attitudes. and also the different costumes. But with people like the students and teachers at Guil- derland High School, my two host families, the Cul- lens and the Costins. my year has been a great and exciting experience. I wish everybody could get the opportunity to be an exchange student. You learn a lot about yourself and find out how much you really love your family at home. Thank you for being such wonderful peoplel Good Luck, Gunn Thomsen Javier Aguirre 1' Gunn Thomsen Hi! I am Javier Aguirre de la Fuente. I come from Saltillo, Mexico, which is near the Texas border. I'm a Rotary Exchange student. I arrived in the United States on the final days of August and will be here until June. Although in Mexico our customs and traditions are different, many things are similar to the United States. This year I had many great exper- iences, which will hopefully help me to have success in life. Also I want to thank everyone who helped me. I hope that when you look at this yearbook, you remember me, and also remember that you have a friend that will never forget you. So Long, Javier Aguirre de la Fuente 143 Hilish . . . A unique class.
