Iwas in a strange new land but I had no fear for the people of New Zealand are not savages as some might expect but rather Warm, hospitable people who live in a most beautiful country. New Zealand has 3,000 miles of coast line, active volcanoes, ski fields, and geo-thermal regions. Yet the land area of New Zealand is comparable to that of Colorado. While in New Zealand, I went to Birkdale College, which is like high school, and participated in classes and sports. Istudied English, History, Geography and Engineering, and General Studies, which is an elective-type program with courses like grass-skiing and Chinese cooking. I played that f0ugh English sport-Rugby-and even scored. And I surfed every chance I could. Reflecting on the year, it was excellent and I'am really glad I had the chance to be an exchange student. My program is for one year in Guilderland High School and it is my last year in school. Coming here has been, for me, one of my biggest experiences because I'm leaming dif- I will try to leam all the positive things of the U.S.A. and take them to my country. The impression which I have received here is that the students have many opportuni- ties to take advantage of. Apparently there are many activities in different aspects. My country still has not been totally organized or completely developed. At Christmas time the class decorated the showcases in the West building, which filled the school with Christmas spirit. In january the class hosted a rollerskating party which everyone enjoyed.
