The many courses that the History Depart- ment offers, gives a student a better under- standing of why the world is the way it is to- day. lt also helps him to perceive his fellow man with less difficulty. Asian Studies, Prob- lems of Democracy, Political Science, Com- munism, and Sociology all aid in this per- ception of man and his world. With a good background in anyone of these subjects, one has better incite as to what problems are facing us today, and how she must go about trying to solve them. Many of the History courses, illustrate the accomplishments and downfalls of past societies. Learning of these, it is possible for us to learn from these assets and misakes. Not only does one learn about his own society, but societies as far away as Asia are studied. With the added knowledge and understand- ing that the History Department employes into each student, it is hoped that future so- cieties will strive toward improvement, and the problems of the world will be slackened.
