In an effort to raise the standards of the paper, writers have been advised to adhere to a more precise journalistic style. New equipment has allowed us to print the Journal at school, instead of sending it out to be printed, as has previously been the practice. This year's newspaper represents a wider range of student curriculum. College preparatory students write the ar- ticles, business students do typing and organization, in dustrial arts students do the printing and the entire stu- dent body reads the resulting work. The areas reported on have increased. new feature columns have been add ed: the result is a more progressive paper than ever. Mary Deveno, Journal editor. Under the direction of Mr, O'Connor and Mr. Scrafford this small but enthusiastic organization is ex- pected to put out a literary magazine sometime this year. It produces much of its own material and promotes creative works from the rest of the student body. This club illustrates one of the cultural aspects of our school. Hum0MffQi7zww In the past five years America youth has been made increasingly conscious of our nation's heritage through our international music. The ever-growing enthusiasm for folk music has greatly increased this year through the efforts of the Hum and Strum Club. These har- monious teens. under the leadership of Miss Comstock, have given guitar lessons to interested people and haveprovided entertainment for patients at the Albany Veterans' Administration Hospital. Though this group is young it has proved to be another example of the initiative and varied abili- ' ties of our student body. HOV! If fl. T-Iililll. ft. 1'-.Slit 1 . ' ROW Z3 'I.fyniI1lft, It. Iwi.
