' ' ' M Principal 5 es sage What have you accomplished thus far? The first answer that may come to your mind is graduation from senior high school. This in itself is noteworthy. However, millions of other high school students can claim the same distinction this year. The important thing is not that you graduate, but how? Did you develop an inquiring mind that will lead you to seek out the answers to problems? Did you learn how to use books, teachers, authorities, newspapers, magazines and personal observation in gaining answers to these problems? Did you learn to plan your work so that you could complete term projects and yet have time left for the dance, of chess club, or basketball game? Did you learn how to work with people? Did you learn your responsibilities as a member in a democratic society? Did you learn the importance of a sound and healthy rnind and body? Did you find what you thought was your level of performance and then work just a little harder? Did you learn how to convey ideas by both written and oral expression 7 If you can honestly answer Yes to these eight questions, you have achieved much more than graduation from high school. You have built a firm foundation for your future. In this age of rapid change, new discoveries may make today's facts untrue. We cannot foresee the world you will live in during the next fifty years. We know it will be different. We hope we have prepared you to face the differences you will encounter. We hope we have helped your future by adequately preparing you for the years that lie ahead. 8. i 9
