i Principcl's Message New fields of adventure will open to high school graduates this year. Many will go on to college to prepare for careers in a space age. Others will begin jobs in industries now plan- ning space-bound equipment. Still other gradu- ates will be supplying the clerical and secretarial aid necessary to support space age enterprises. Unexplored space is waiting for you on this earth also. You have learned your first lessons well. You know the alphabet of life. Now you must learn to build your own words, sentences and paragraphs. The meaning of your life must become known to you. Only you can find this meaning. We have given you the fundamentals for your exploration into yourself. Now you must decide what it all means. Unexpired areas in human relations will provide a challenge for many of you, for though man has entered space, he cannot get along peaceably with those close to him. War and the threat of war consumes billions of dollars of the earth's wealth each year. Carelessness and neglect take an overwhelming toll of the world's productive capacity. New areas of human under- standing must he developed. This year's gradu- ates may he able to teach people how to get along with one another. New space to explore, new fields to con- quer, new challenges to respond to and new horizons to reach for are yours as you face a new phase of your life. Some of you have achieved outstanding results in your four years at Guilder- land Central lligh School. To you we offer our congratulations and our sincere wish that you continue to excell in your new tasks. To those who have not achieved as they would have liked to, other chances will be given, for life continu- ously presents opportunities for a new start. Your diploma signifies that you have success- fully reaehed one plateau in your life. You have climbed high enough so that your vision from this plateau will show you where you have been. You now have an opportunity to look hack and evaluate what you have done to arrive here. Your vantage point can also give you a hetter view of thc road ahead. The future is yours.
