BRUIN VOLUME XXXIV GUEYDAN, LOUISIANA FOREWARD We have looked forward with dreams and hopes to our Senior year. Unfor- tunately the time has passed very quickly and we are now at cross-roads; be- ing challenged with making our youthful dreams become reality. From the first day of school, friendships were born and faded away and ideas were concieved and disillusioned. Laughter ringing in the halls, tears gliding down cheeks in a desolate corner, apprehension over exams, the warmth of a tested and proven friendship, the competitive spirit of contests, athletics and social life, have all helped to create the personality of GHS. As the years go by, we the Bruin Staff, sincerely hope that as you thumb through the pages of the Bruin, you will fondly remember the friends made and experiences had at Gueydan High School. For all of us on this campus — students, faculty, staff, and those who share our feelings for GHS — we proudly present to you, the 1986 Bruin. — Monica Hair TABLE OF CONTENTS BRUIN STAFF 4 DEDICATION 8 CANDIDS 12 SENIORS 17 SUPERLATIVES 24 JUNIORS 29 SOPHOMORES 35 FRESHMEN 41 JUNIOR HIGH 47 FAVORITES 55 HONORS 58 ACTIVITIES 59 FACULTY 111 NON FACULTY 115 BABY PICTURES WILLS 118 ROSTERS 122 CANDIDS 125 SENIOR MEMORIES 126 SENIOR AUTOGRAPHS 127 AUTOGRAPHS 'omca Senior Sdair rjCiia editors SU Wecu, Sopk omore Editors J anet Cjuidry and IJuette SrouSSard junior Editori C efena SrouAAard an J3 enise % altu DEDICATION It’s not often you find someone who really cares. Someone who will go that extra mile for you. Someone who always push- ed us to reach our full potential as young adults who cared about education enough to make sure we would feel secure when we went into a college classroom. He always did us any favor we asked of him and was more than willing to help us at any time. No matter how busy, or how much free time he had, he always found time to help us. Whether athletics, academic, or personal he was always there. We the Class of 1986 would like to express our sincere gratitude by dedicating our yearbook to Mr. Robert Rizzuto, or as we all know him Coach Bobby. SPECIAL DEDICATION The Senior Class of 1986 would like to acknowledge Coach Hampton Primeaux, who through our years of high school, whether Athletics, school work or just being a friend was always there. Even though you are no longer working here, you will always have a special place in our hearts. So we the Seniors of 1986 would like to commend Coach Hamp- ton Primeaux, you did a great job here and you will never be forgotten! 9 Anthony E. Rizzuto 10 Assistant Principal George Gardiner THE PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Life can be compared to an hour glass. Seconds, minutes, hours, and days are constantly sifting away never to be found again. The only contact you will have with the past will be through happy memories made during your school years. As your life has passed through its phases you have seen yourselves develop from childhood to young adulthood. You will soon be making a beginning into adult life which will demand of you self support and much more responsibility. Success in life can be achieved only with determination and hard work. When opportunities arise you must be prepared to take advantage of the situation. Life will not stand still while you catch up with it, just as the sand in the hour glass will never stop passing. My best wishes for a happy, successful future go to you the seniors of 1985-86. ■ 1. Glady s night and the Pips 2. Would you like another? 3. Aw! Sha! 4. GOOD FRIENDS Freda V Fisher Good friends are like a garden with blossoms sweet and rare; They need our sure companionship, they need our constant care. The blooms of early springtime oft linger through the year. And friendships formed in early youth remain so very dear But blossoms of the winter months, surviving through the storms. Like friends we meet in later years. ' light a fire within that warms. JOHN J MARTIN, JR., president STANLEY F. BREAUX, executive vice pres. J. C. Smith Packing up the dreams God planted In the fertile soil of you Can’t believe the hopes He’s granted Means a chapter in your life is through But we’ll keep you close as always It won’t even seem you’ve gone Cause our hearts in big and small ways Will keep the love that keeps us strong And friends are friends forever If the Lord’s the Lord of them And a friend will not say “never” Cause the welcome will not end Though it’s hard to let you go In the Father’s hands we know That a lifetime's not too long To live as friends. With the faith and love God’s given Springing from the hope we know We will pray the joy you’ll live in Is the strength that now you show But we’ll keep you close as always It won’t even seem you’ve gone Cause our hearts in big and small ways Will keep the love that keeps us strong And friends are friends forever If the Lord’s the Lord of them And a frjend will not say never” Cause the welcome will not end Though it’s hard to let you go In the Father’s hands we know That a lifetime’s not too long To live as friends No, a lifetime’s not too long To live as friends.
