usu Jan School T. L. BUSH, PRINCIPAL ueifdan. J?oui iana As I write this farewell message to the students and friends of Gueydan High School I cannot help but feel a little sadness mingled with the prospect of leaving behind those with whom I have spent so many profitable and happy years - profitable be- cause of the foundations laid by a generation of high school graduates, most of whom have successfully established themselves in the world, and happy because of the many exciting years spent working and playing together. I shall miss you and many of the things we did together. The assembly programs on Friday, the basketball and football games at night, the Halloween parties in the gymnasium, the annual magazine campaigns, and many other activities too nu- merous to mention here will be cherished memories in the years to come. A backward glance over my tenure in the Gueydan High School startles me into realizing that the years total twenty-nine, and yet the time seems so brief. Perhaps I was too busy to notice the passing of the years. It is only when I deliver high school diplomas to the children of my former graduates that I realize that half my life has unrolled within the walls of this school. Looking backward, I find it rewarding to remember that juvenile delinquency scarcely existed among our young people. In fact, we hardly knew the meaning of the term. We were one big, happy family with too many worth-while things to do to have time to be delinquent. It is a pleasure to see the democratic attitude displayed by our students toward each other. Differences in religion, wealth, or social position have never seemed to influence friendships. To live and work with such people in surroundings such as these is as much as a man can ask of life. I want you to know that I appreciate every minute of it. What more can I say than GOD BL£SS YOU. Sincerely,
”
