“1, 5 . I S s 1 I I i Q E I I F NA nice buildingn is perhaps the typical remarkof strangers as they view the edifice which houses Grundy County High School. But to us, the graduating class, Grundy County High is more than a beautiful building. It is a second homeg and as a home, we fine it hard to gleave. It is the symbol of many happy hours, of many i s i glorious opportunities, of a host of cheerful friends. Activities once regarded as too exacting, now ap- pear on the screen of our memory as pleasant duties, long, boresome class periods fade into fleeting mo- ments of real worthwhile living, and the once serious- fminded unsympathetic teachers are remembered new as i s 5 i 6 P sincere Iriends. How can we ever forget or cease to love Grundy County High? Within these walls we have spent four happy years. Here we have worked, played, laughed, loafed, cried and grumbled some, but the good times, the pleasant memories, out number, by far, the un- pleasant ones. We have formed, within these walls, friendships which will last through out our life time, and in the future when a name is spoken, we shall be heard to remark, nl was in school with her.n ' During those periods in our future when we tire of real life, we shall send our thoughts racing back to scenes of our high school days, and for a brief mo- lment recall with delight the noises of creaking lock- I x x 1 ers and books thrown carelessly in, of loud voices in the halls, of the patter of feet on the stairs or of the hilarious yells of fans at our ball games. To paraphrase the poet we say, nHow dear to our hearts are the scenes of our school days When fond reccolections present them to 5 View, The building, the campus, the once-dreaded lessons And every friend here, which we new bid adieu.n
