After a few days passed we learned that a number of the freshmen of the former year had joined the service of our country, some pupils failed as freshmen, and others had found the highway of education too hard to travel and had not re-entered. , At the first class meeting Mrs. Ray was chosen sponsor of the sophomore class, and the following officers were elected: President, Johnnie Jane Heardg Vice-President, Betty Jean Kennedyg Secretary, Doris Andersong Treasurer, Ethelyn Haynesg Reporter, Frank- lin Rust.
