About one hundred twenty boys and girls enrolled. The upper classmen called us green, but we learned to ngrin and bear itno We chose Miss Lacy Yarber as our sponsos. Leaving our pleasures and misfortunes to the incoming freshmen, we again answered the Wcall to knowledgel when we entered as sophomores in 1942. But we found to our dismay that only seventy-five f of the original number had survived, we chose Miss Hamby as our sponsors As sophomores we felt very importsnts and made quite a mane for ourselves in school aftiuitieso We challenged the other nlasses of the school in a war bond contest and were vie- toriouu 'Wo had'members representing vs in practi- cally every club, and in many other autivitiess At the close of this school year we felt quite capable of attacking tnose two years ahead, ' ' August. 1915, rolled around and once again we HSSCMOXGG, this time with only fifty-three members. Many of the boys irum.eur group had left to serve Uncle Sam, Jew that we were uppervclassmen, we be- gan with patience the tasks not before us, Miss Hamby was ageir chosen sponsor, We elected the fol- lowing oifieers: Gone Phillips, Presidonty Gene Nunley. Vice Fresidontg Mary Elivabeth Francis, Seeretaryg Ngvclle Hirgis, Treasurer: Robert Mor- gani Reporter, To make some money to entertain the seniors. the footodll queen contest was sponsored by the junior class, A junior girl, Ruth Mallard, was chosen.
