JUNIOR BAND The iunior band, this year, is made up of 36 band members in grades 5-6. The members are all beginners this ye ar and are doing very well. The main activity of the junior band has been the concert they gave at the P. T. A. meeting on February 12. SENIOR BAND Under the direction of our new and capable band director, Mr. Ronald Sands, Grovertown's first marching band was formed. Mr. Sands has done a tremendous iob of rebuilding our band in all aspects.l The band is made up of 63 members. The marching band has performed some first-class shows at basketball games. Their shows included Around the World in 80 Days at the Hanna game, At the Circus at the Tyner game, a Valentine Show at the North Liberty game, and a Salute to Texas at the Hamlet game. The band also marched at the P. T. A. carnival. They have also received many invitations to march at coming events. In April, the band gave one of the best concerts Grovertown has ever heard. At this concert, the band played several selections from various fields of music, some being the tough- est music that can be played. The Band Boosters, which began in April, 1958, have met every third Thursday of each month. The club consists of band members parents, and anyone else interested in the progress and development of the Grovertown music department. Their main goal has been to arouse and maintain an interest in the band and to purchase uniforms, music, and musical instruments. The mem- bers have held a spaghetti supper, an ice cream social, a bakeless bake sale, an Old Fashioned ham and bean supper, a raffle, and many more money-making projects. Junior Bu nd 23 i
