G.A.A. AT GROVERTOWN The girls of the Grovertown High School have enjoyed the privilege of belonging to the Girls Athletic Association. This Indiana organization has a membership of nearly one hundred schools. In this organization social activities and an athletic program which is set by the state GAA are followed. Games with other schools are planned, friendships with girls of other schools are begun, and all of the worthwhile benefits of activity engaging in play activities are felt. Leadership qualities are developed as girls lead or direct their groups in organized play. Many of the members are also having the added leadership training of direct- ing the smaller children in play. The sponsor of our GAA is Mary Margaret Corbitt. The officers of the 1952-53 school year are: President -- Carolyn Abel, Vice President -- Norine Lehiy, Secretary -- Deanna Janovic, Treasurer -- Donnell Chiaro, Secretary of points -- Ruby Allen. Girls now in school who have earned their school letters are: Carolyn Abel, Mary Ann Erickson, Marie Morrey, and Doris Wisler. 0551 s 'E UGQ Bottom Row: Rosalie Ordas, Barbara Hrabal, Norine Lehiy, Carolyn Abel, Deanna Ianovic, Ruby Allen, Donell Chiaro, Bernice Brune, Alice Whitesell, Yvonne Beem, Miss Corbitt.. OUR NEW MUSIC DEPARTMENT under the dir- ection of Mrs. Reid started with thirty girls forming a chorus. Piano lessons are being given to some students who have never had a music ll lesson. All the pupils of the grades enjoy their vocal music and were proud to show their talent at the Christmas pro- gram, assisted, of course, by the chorus. In April we had a real Music Festival and concluded the year with an impressive Baccalaureate ser- vice. on G0 G Gao Bottom Row, L. to R: Elaine Siroky, Barbara Hrabal, Mary Kay Newell, Bernice Brune, Alice Whitesell, Rosalie Ordas, Second Row: Doris Wisler, Anna Meadows, Ruby Allen, Marie Morrey, Deanna Janovic, Donell Chiaro, Mary Ann Erickson, Mrs, Rosalie Reid, Third Row: Betty Hickman, Normale Stanton, Shirley Schultz, Nancy Hick- man, Loretta Lerch, Lou Ann Bennett, Erma Whitaker, Eva Riffey, Top Row: Norine Lehiy, Carolyn Abel, Judy Harness, Wanetta Jones, Helenlou Sloan, Lois Ann Cranmer, Helen Olds, Carol Amor, Sylvia Meltinos, 31
