They had a few bad breaks at the beginning with several preseason injuries. Every game was close. Some of the key offensive players were Ken Hale, Tom Smith, and Gil Rosales. The defense was strengthened by Kevin Dixon and Manny Zuniga. Mike Houston played well on both offense and defense. With a little luck, the Bees would have had a better record. CHS OPP. V. football team did not fare as well in league competition as they have done in the last two years. The team once again was lead by coach Bill Long and his assistant Ed Savastits. There were only three returning lettermen; Howard Whitney, Jim Alberico, and Dwayne Beardin. The sophomore standouts were Tom Croell and John Dugan. Steve Savastits, a tenth grader, received the Most Valuable Runningback Award. All of these players should be of some help to the Varsity team next year, since the team is made up of all sophomores and juniors.
