The full moon brilliantly shone over Verity Field that crisp night of November 5th. As it beamed down upon the five nervous beauties, each clutched the arm of her escort and won- dered what the evening held in store. They were not alone, for the stands were full of cheering caviliers and former cavillers who all felt the tension of the evening. As the anxiety mounted, Howard Borenstein and Sandy Farina reached for the first envelope and announced Fourth Princess; Carrie Stanfield, escorted by Clint Archambault. The second envelope revealed Melanie Edwards as the Third Princess, with Tom Furlong right along side her. Suspense filled the air as the contents of the third envelope re- vealed Jeri Teaff Second Princess, escorted by Gary Custer. With only the one envelope remain- ing, the stands grew silent. The two girls ' hearts raced as t ' ' • grip on their escorts; arm became tighter an ghter. When the announcement was made, the crowd screamed their approval as Sue Petruk, escorted by Craig Freeman, was crowned First Princess, and Donna Tellez momentarily abandoned the arm of Larry Gonzales for the arms of her prede- cessor Rosanna Chavez.
