GROVER'S FIRST PRINCIPAL Charles A. Kennedy the first principal of Grover Cleveland High School, graduated from Old Central High School and from the Univer- sity of Buffalo School of Law. He came to Grover from East High School where he was assistant principal. Popular with the students and faculty, he originated many of the tradi- tions that are important in the development of Grover. He assumed the school's administra- tion in 1931 when it was opened as a high school and retired in l952. At the silver anni- versary assembly, he praised the teachers for their spirit and aggressiveness. His leadership set Grover on the right path. MR. CHARLES MONAN MR. PERRY C. ELDRIDGE For three years Mr, Charles Monan was assistant principal of Grover Cleveland High School. ln those short years he became very well liked and respected. Mr. Monan was born in Buffalo and obtained his edu- cation at South Park High School and Canisius College. News of his death was received with sorrow and regret by all his friends and fellow teachers throughout Buffalo as well as Grover Cleveland. The untimely death of Mr. Perry C. Eldridge on February 12, l956 was a shock to his many friends, pupils and colleagues. Mr. Eldridge received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Buffalo in l929. He was appointed to Grover Cleveland on October 5, l936. During his years at Grover, Mr. Eldridge served with distinction in many fields and was a general favorite with the student body and faculty. 9
