Do you remember the fall of I949 when you entered Grover Cleveland as freshmen? You seemed eager to begin the new life opening up for you with zeal and purpose. Your spirit and enthusiasm could be likened to the crisp stimulation of a bright fall day. The fall deepened into winter with its cold, biting, sophomoric blasts, constantly reminding you that ever-increasing obstacles had to be overcome before you could emerge into the fresh and lustrous verdure of spring days. But finally spring came and then-as juniors-you were definitely and surely begin- SENICRS ning to grow and lift your heads and ornament whatever you lent presence to. The rest, of course, is inevitable-the summer, the season of joy, with its warmth, its beauty, its fulfillment of the promises of spring has now enveloped you, and you go forth into it filled with confidence and courage. May all your future hours increase the golden glory that is yours today. i . ......' r thrill of wearing cap and gown, of rushing about :luation parties and future reunions. Let us recall ihers. Our parents have played a great part in helping us to attain our goal. We shall never be able to thank or repay them for the love and understanding they have always given us. To those who have shown us, along with our regular courses, the need for living together harmoniously, we give our grateful thanks and appreciation. They have been more than our teachers, they have been our friends and counf selors. Graduation is the beginning of a new life for us, Many of us are looking forward to a new vocation, others will soon walk through the halls of new schools. Now we leave our Alma Mater with mixed emotions and a spirit of hope for the future. We cannot say farewell to Grover Cleveland, for its teachings and high principles will always be with us. ANTHONY CAMPANELLA A ' JANUARY 30, 1952 :- Anthony, also, was an active participant in Grover's tivities. On assembly days he played a trumpet in the :nt row of the school band. He was well liked for his od-humored friendliness. Anthony, who had hoped one y to be a marine like his brother Paul, is now a soldier of God where there is no bloodshed and strife but only Eternal Peace. Indeed these two beloved classmates have graduated before us, but they are still a memorable part of our Class of l953. LAST WILL Mary Anne Vullo We the class of l953, acquainted with the ways and customs of sane people, and being ourselves supposedly of sound mind and body, do hereby make and declare this to be our last will and testament. To the Junior boys we leave Homeroom 208 for one year. To the Junior girls is left an additional flight of stairs to climb. fPuff!l Upon the Sophomore class is bestowed the long awaited distinguished title of Upper Classmen, which brings with it a feeling of being a necessary part of the school. To the Freshmen, who will be elevated to a new height, the auditorium shelf , goes the honor of being looked up to by the rest of the student body. 'k 41 A' The following personal bequests are made: To Marie Griffo is left Frannie Curro's charming per- sonality and leadership. To Al Spino, Dick Lunghino gives his speed in cross country. Jim Di Natale's high jumps over the hurdles are given to Eugene Godios, while Theresa Pignone leaves to Sandra Graziadei her withered Senior Day corsage. Bob Loiacano bequeathes the green and orange socks that he wore during the basketball games to Sal Valvo. Tony Bueme's worn-out tennis racket goes to Larry Costa. Marie Saccomando shall possess Dolores Falcone's old rebuttal cards. Phil Ganci's fullback position goes to Tom Novaro. Sara Rizzo's old moldy business law notes are left to Nina Burgio. Pat Drago leaves five or six inches to her sister Carol. Tom Aurelio is left an additional amount of courtesy from Mike Battaglia, Eleanor Rua's friendliness goes to Lucille Contino. Joyce Nadolinski leaves the teachers peace and quiet. Vita Maggiotto wills her gift of gab to Sarah Conti. iPoor kidli To John Aurelio, Marie Reinbold leaves all the rules in her Italian book and also the exceptions to the exceptions. Bob Nasca bequeathes his ability to play chess to Joseph Lamantia, while Joe Rosato gives his cheerleading enthusiasm to John LoRocco. The never-to-be-forgotten shocking pink shirt of James Bork goes to Bob McMasters. Dolores Bellomo bestows her love for football games iand the players? to Rose Bruno. Chevy Lattuca leaves his saxo- phone, complete with sour notes, to Russ DiBartolo for future use. To anyone as small as herself, Helen Puma bestows the privilege of being called Shorty. Barbara Heather wills her friendship with Mr. Beech and also her seat in his room to Josephine Acquisto. Antoinette Domino leaves a ribbon to tie any future pony tail which Marie Vetrano may decide to grow. All the Senior football players bequeath their outstand- ing sportsmanship to any underclassmen who wish to follow their fine examples. ' A space on Fourteenth Street is reserved for Joe Carriero's car. Camille Tricoli bequeathes the unused social ticket on her budget card to Antoinette Pignataro. ln each waste paper basket, Maymie Aronica reluctantly leaves a wad of gum, while Frannie Zanda refuses to give up Dick Tuzzo. Sandy Beck leaves her toothpaste to Rose Santalucia so that she may keep up her Pepsodent smile . Barbara Roberts leaves her intermediate review book with a sigh of re I i ef. The yearbook staff leaves its headaches and fun to next year's staff. sl RETROSPECT MARIE REINBOLD this be the end? 'on-to-be-forgotten phase of our lives? so. ter is it the graduation to a new life. 2 for a fond glance behind us, then . . . the journey onward. books lie in wait for those who follow, nur memories we shall take with us, in them we shall find strength.
