MR. DEVINE AND MR. KENNEDY In Retrospect September boughs bent low with leaves as the long rays of the fading sun slanted in upon his office chair, Our first principal of Grover Cleveland High School had retired from a long career of educational service to the quiet dignity of a banking career. We cannot forget this first leader of ours, staunch as the finest in any forest, bending with charm on such occasions as a Commencement Night, his handclasp one to be remembered, his voice always to be respected. Charles A. Kennedy, first principal of Grover Cleveland High School, was a graduate of Old Central High School, Buffalo State Teachers' College, The University of Buffalo School of Law, later principal of Schools 34, 4, 6, and 63, also assistant principal of East High School, but the true character of his service was best defined during his twenty years here at Grover Cleveland. May his manhood, his pride, and his insight bless all our days! Our New ,Principal
