Sophomore Entirely free from the embarrassed bewilder- ment suffered by freshmen, our sophomore class has now begun to participate in round- the-school activities Five of the sophomores, Captain Joe Tauri- ello, Charlie Sciandra, Ronnie Parisi, Mac Ciminelli and Mel Caruso Cwho, incidentally, has won the table tennis championship for the W.T.T.T, of N.Y.S. and is also on the debate teaml have developed into the finest cheer- leaders we've followed in years. Their skill and wit recall to our minds two great cheerleaders of the past, Joe Guerra and Charlie Pollino. Watching the athletes, we have seen Fred Saiia and Vinny Carbone match their brawn against the best in the city in the football series

ik, ' ,f Freshmen Many frosh have come to us well-recom- mended from the grammar schools they attend- ed. Dolores Falcone, president of her class and winner of the DAR and Frances Curro winner of the Jesse Ketchum and DAR awards, should be among the leaders of their class. Our ath letic future depends largely upon the following young sportsmen, Anthony lppolito, Pascal St. Angelo, Michael Giallombardo, George Pollino, Mario Galluzzo, Justin Badame, and a host of others. Our little ones who look forward so eagerly to their sophomore year would do well to pause for a moment in their fast-moving world to look back, perhaps with a little tear, upon the friends and memories they have made in the past few months, for these are those precious years that will never be forgotten.

phisticcites and we have pretty high hopes tor Sonny Pinna- taro in the basketball tournies. The second year boys have dominated the scene in track and cross country. Russ DiLorenzo, who received a major while only a freshman, Rocky Zendano, Don Tomasulo and Frank Ricotta bring the light to Mr. Kuhn's eyes. The more studious sophomores shine in their line of endeavor. Heading the list of our intel- ligenzia are Thora Percival, Concetta Natoli, Edwin llardo, and James Gullo who is also gaining valuable experience with the debate team. Then there are the social-minded students Pete Grisanti, Thomas Gallagher, and Bob Tim- ineri, who are always willing to have a good time and help everyone to have one, too.
