if xii E1 u - v EMM! Valedictory We, the graduates of l95O, have come to the time of hail and farewell. The task assigned us has been done, and the promise which our parents and our Teachers have seen in us has come to fulfillment. All that has gone before in the past four years of earnest endeavor we will try to apply through our adult lives. To Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Devine, and the mem- bers ofthe faculty go our thanks for a job well done. It has been proven to us that education consists not so much in quantity of informa- tion, but rather in quality of imaginative guid- ance. We feel that the lessons we have learned have been less mastery of fact, than increased awareness that the world we live in needs de- cency and honor, spirit and integrity. Above all, we know it needs intelligent citizens who can adapt their education to help solve its problems, to keep it free as the Almighty and the founding fathers intended. Within our power, we will insure that it is a world in which the individual can pursue his destiny, mindful of false philosophies yet assured because he knows them for the destroyers of liberty that they are. To our parents-neither poet nor wise man has put into adequate words the sentiments of affection and gratitude that are ours. The joys and plaudits of graduation might belong, in truth, to you. As time firms and molds our character, we trustfully hope that it brings us more of the strength and inspiration we have drawn from you. We should say farewell to our school, yet, in a way, we can never say farewell to the friend- ships, the gains, the pleasant and fruitful days that Grover has given us. We know that these memories will ever be renewed and relived. Carmelo Contino.
