At right end, Lee Nelke was unpassable on the defenseg right tackle was played by Harry Schmidt, a brilliant downfield blocker. Don Kirwan, a transfer from Bloomfield, was our terrific right guard until injured at mid-season, but Pete Crowther did a grand replacing job. At center was Arnie Berg, a savage defensive player who raised havoc with other teams. Skip johnson, Caldwell's left guard, proved a strong blocker. Left tackle was held down by hard-hitting Ed Liguori, while at left end was our vital pass catcher Bill Doran. The im ortant quarterback position was covered by jerry Bradley. joe Mesics offensive- ly manned the wingback spot, with Doug Seymour and Al Pfister, two hard running ball carries, alternating at tailback. At fullback Frank Bottone, our 190 pound blockbuster, was always good for five yards. U21 X1
