The Senior Class of Groveport High School has found a great deal of pleasure in preparing this fourteenth volume of the Madisonian. In this book we hope to preserve the memories of our four wonderful years in high school. This 1955 Madisonian presents the ABC's of our school. As you turn the pages of this book, we hope that you may participate in the activities, live again the big moments, and mingle with your fellow students and teachers. We wish to express our thanks to everyone who has made possible our four happy and re- warding years of high school life. 3 9 4 1 W fjfkits UVSQEQ K s . Q JM:-. FOOTB LL RECORD The first game of the season saw Groveport going against Hamilton Township in one of the County League Pre- views. Groveport lost to Hamilton after a hard-fought game, 14-0. The Cruisers' first league test came when they traveled to Dublin and came home with a victorious 27-0 score. Groveport rolled over its second opponent, Reynoldsburg, by a score of 26 to 0. Reynoldsburg's only chance for a score came in the last quarter when they put on a drive to Groveport's five yard line, but the Cruisers proved to be the better team and Reynoldsburg did not score. Groveport then played host to Grandville in a non-league game and came out on top by an overwhelming score of 45 to 0. Groveport then traveled to Gahanna where they were set back by a fired-up ball team for their first defeat of the season. The highlight of the game came when Groveport drove eighty-five yards for a touchdown in fifty seconds before the end of the half. The final score was 14 to 7. The next game wasahome game with Hamilton Township. Groveport lost their second game of the season through bad breaks and poor weather. The final score was 20 to 14. The Cruisers then traveled to New Albany and came home victors by a score of 27 to 7. The 1954 Homecoming was played against the league Champions, Marion-Franklin. Groveport lost this hard- fought game by a close score of 14 to 6. The next game was with Mifflin who came to Groveport expecting a win and was sent home with a defeat. Groveport showed expert team work on offense and defense, throughout the entire game. The final score was 33 to 14. The last game of the season was lost to an inspired ball club, the Canal Vidnchester Eleven. The score at the end of the game was 12 to 7. The Cruisers ended the 1954 season with a 5-4 record. Coach Thad Hall considered this a successful season and was very proud of his team. Ronnie Taylor and Tom Vance, co-captains of the 1954 season did a fine job of leading their team mates through a tough schedule and rugged football season. Gro ve po rt was shown some outstanding pass receiving this season by a senior end, Charlie Trenary, who set up several important touchdowns throu hout the football seas g on. Seth Dildine , left halfback set a new record for the longest run on Groveport's football field. This was an 82 yard run made against Mifflin. The Seniors of the 1954 Football Squad would like to wish Coach Thad Hall and the 1955 Football Team good luck in the season to come.
