Mixed Chorus Groveport High School welcomed to the faculty a new music teacher, Mrs. Wills. Mrs. Wills started the year by having the Mixed Chorus sing for the dedication of the new school building, November 9, 1952. On Sunday before Christmas the Music Department gave apub- lic program of an hour of Christmas music. In January the Far- mers Institute of Lithopolis asked the Girls Glee Club to sing for their annual meeting. The Mixed Chorus 8: Girls Glee Club 8: Boys Glee Club par- ticipated in the All-County Music Festival at Capital University, which was held April 10, 1953. Mrs. Wills worked very hard to give a Spring Concert. The girls all wore their formals and the boys wore suits, this, added to the good music, made a very colorful program. The program of the Spring Concert consisted of songs sung during the year. The Mixed Chorus and the Girls Glee Club sang a few numbers for our Chapel services during Lent. The Mixed Chorus gave a very fine performance at the Baccalaureate service. The per- formance brought a few tears to several seniors' eyes. The Music Department and Mrs. Wills did very well this year and the seniors who are leaving the Music Department wish next years students the best of luck. 56 lst row left to rightg Norma Dozier, Rose Mary Feucht, Betty Kyser, Audrey Burden, Mrs. Wills, Shirley Bevelhymer, Rose Carey, Rosalie Donaldson, Diane Hartman. 2nd row, Beverly Woods, Shirley Rohr, Rose Merideth, Dolores Ripley, Margie West, Harriet Snyder, Sally Sawyier, Carole Van Gundy, Rosalie Pettibone. 3rd row, Twila Rohr, Sharon Schwaberow, Joanne Miklos, Janet Walters, Norabelle Queen, Mary Lou Chesher. 4th rowg Edith Leidy, Jane Marion, Juanita Ice, Shirley Graham, Pam Petty, Nancy Hizer. Y . Y . Y. Y, tibone, Billie Compton, Beverly Woods, Sylvia Burton. Ellen Fenner, who is a member of our chapter, was elected State Vice-President of the F. H. A. In November the F. H. A. sponsored a Gold Diggers' Dance and the girls had to invite the boys. The juniors and seniors vis- ited the Parade of Homes as a supplement to the study of interior design. A French girl, who is now a citizen of this country, visited the chapter and gave a talk on the customs of her country. The club sent Christmas packages to the homeless children in Germany. ln January the freshmen and sophomores presented a lovely style show. We also lost a very close friend Mrs. Pease, but we gained a new friend, Mrs. Helen Claypool. During February the juniors and seniors took over the project of refinishing the furniture in the new Home Economics depart- ment. Abake sale was held in March. On March 24, the annualF.F.A. and F.H.A. banquet was held. The juniors and seniors went to Ohio State University to see the displays during Farm and Home Week. The F. H. A. wants to thank everyone who made the year so successful. 63 if KU: lst row left to right Bob Watkins Joe Goodyear Leo Storts Ronnie Taylor Charles Black Burch Rohr Jerry Goodyear Wayne Cunningham Don Blank 2nd row left to right Don Wood Don Raines B111 Simons Bob Shannon B111McC1ure Ralph Talbert Torn Vance Bob Kirk 3rd row Mr Miller John Scholl Dan Glenn Bill Ferguson Pau1G1enden1ng Harry Lines Leory Four FFA President ..... . . All the boys together won over 51000.00 in prizes. The most important social events on the club calendar were a watermelon party held at the Y-park in August with the parents as guests, a skating party for all the students in the fall, educational trip through the south and the annual Parent-Son-Daughter ban- quet, held on March 24. We held our annual swine sale on October 7, although we didn't make too much profit, we received purebred livestock in our community. The educational part of the regular meetings included colored films from Game and Wild Life Conservation , a speaker on Highway Safety , a speaker on Health and a veterinarian on swine disease and a minister on Better Living Through Religion J 64 Trl H1 Y The Groveport Chapter of the Tr1 H1 Y of 1952 53 enrolled 52. members ln all The year S aCt1V1t1CS 1ncluded a bake sale a sale of subscrrp t1ons for the Reader s D1gest a sale of G H S p1ns and a Vah Can Dance OI' The club adopted four fam111es at Chmstmas t1me In March the Tr1 H1 Y took over the dr1ve for contr1but1ons Cflppled chlldren The club also sent representatxves to the d1str1ct Tr1 H1 Y Convent1on at Oh1o Un1vers1ty The members enjoyed very much the t1mes they Jolned w1th the H1 Y for sw1mm1ng part1es and Chr1stmas carohng Presldent Monna Alhson VICE Pres1dent Donna Alllson Secretary Mary Katser Treasurer Sh1r1ey M111er Chaplam Martha Palmer lst row left to rrght Monna Allrson M1ss Doersam 2nd row r row 4t t row row Merrdeth 7th row IOW Donna All1son Mary Ka1ser Shrrley M1ller Patty Lerch Martha Palmer Shlrley Swartzlander Sylvla Burton Dolores Rlpley Rosallnd Bohl Shrrley Reed Audrey Burden Harnet Snyder Jodlne Masters Mary Kaye Nelson Jessle Wetzel Carmen Carey Nancy Norms Susle Hames Joan Aldrrdge Wrnogene Klernlem Sally Sawy1er Wrlma Peck Rose Loulse Trlckey Sharon Schwaberow Beverly Woods Bertha Meagher Janet Walters Ann Ferguson Ahce Schleppr Shxrley Rohr Nancy McKee Ellen Fenner Joan M1k1OS 8th row Mary Ellen Codner Valerle Johnson Gertrude Heurxch Roberta Rrchardson Beverly Ingram Nancy McC11sh Jane Marlon Juanlta Ice Wanda Carr June Osborne Emma Kalser B1ll1e Compton 66 O O 1 1 l . . . . . - . New members were taken into the club at the December meeting where both formal and informal initiations were held. The pins were given to them at that time. The club has had several firsts, such as: collection of college seals, which makes up an interesting scrapbook, gold and purple metallic pencils with a Latin inscription and also the beginning of correspondence with foreign students. A historical display was presented, also. Both members and their guests enjoyed the spring party which consisted of a dinner and dancing afterwards.
