This class of '52 plant had only three little roots, Shirley Kinlaw, Mary Helen Ogden and Gilford Gaffney. In its second year of growth, another one was added--from Astatula came Jean Crawford. This quartet spent their third year undisturbed. The fourth year it had five roots--Edwina Judy joined it from Bay Lake. This flourishing plant in its fifth year attracted everyone--from Winter Haven came a little leaf, Virginia Bridges and another, Joyce Hunt, came from Withlachooee. Joyce Short from Eaglelake added more beauty to it. James, better known as Butch Weir wanted to give Gilford some com- petition. Just one leaf was added the sixth year. Carolyn Painter joined the plant from Waterville, Kansas. The first year of Junior High the plant met with a disaster. It might have been a Florida hurricane, but it wasn't. It was the graduates from Mascotte Grammar School. They were: Virgil Parrish, Don Wynn, Beverly Bruner, Norma Booth and Janet Tomlinson. Again it was served a horrible blow-- from Orlando came Ray Sewell, and De Land lent Carolyn Jenkins for two years. Albany, Georgia, sent a tall and stalwart farmer, John Ed Odom. Then from Racine, Wisconsin, came the plants Italian touch, Madalena Jattuso. Suddenly, the class of '52 plant began to wilt. Beverly Bruner and Carolyn Painter shifted to Mont- verde to spend their eighth year. Carolyn Jenkins returned to De Land. Beverly Bruner and Carolyn Jenkins just couldn't stay away. They returned in the ninth year and added more life to the plant, Janet Tomlinson wandered over to Tampa for two years. Ten years of growth and the plant was still growing and thriving beautifully. It received from Penn- sylvania two fellows. Pittsburgh sent Earl Ference, and Philadelphia sent Noel Cain. Webster, Florida sent two: Cornelia Patterson and Turner Booth. QWho's following men A Junior plant now, and Janet Tomlinson returned from Tampa. This year the class of '52 plant pre- sented a play, Aunt Cathie's Cat. It was directed by Miss Virginia Sewell. Seniors--Earl Finney Kinlaw, a lost member of the '51 'ers, retired from the Navy and joined the class of '52 plant. Carolyn Painter, back from Montverde, renewed her acquaintance again. With the addition of these two, which made a total of 24, the little plant finally reached maturity. Yes, the little seed with the help and care of all the teachers along the way, grew and finally in '52 it bloomed for the first time.
