“,-lla... ..u.v.Y- .. , un...-... 6444320 On this clear, bright day, November 4, 1962, I, Don Wynn walk down the streets of Groveland trying to find the paper boy so I can read the sports page. Oh! There's Earl Ference with a paper. l'll just look on with him and save a half a dollar, the cost of a paper. Good morning Mayor, how's the family, mind if I look at the paper with you? The headlines read G. ELMO GAFFNEY NAMED NATION'S MOST PERFECTLY DEVELOPED MAN. GRASS-SNAKES WIN! Coach Ray Sewell leads Conference with 'I straight wins. Sewell, All- American for three years and winning the title as The Toothless Power House. There's another Topic, Stetson's Cap Gun,,I meant Pistol Pete fVirgi1 Parrish.J He was a running mate of the Mighty Sewell. He scored 415 points in nine games, but just think that was with a broken back and several head operations. I also remember Butch Weir was elected captain of the All-Southern team. He was one of the best, the easy-going brain of The University of Southern Shame. He's now a bookkeeper if I re- member right. ' Aw! Mayor turn over to the society page: Flash-A -Diamond Bruner has just been robbed. She hired Noel, Sleepy Sam, Cain to hunt down the thief. I think it will turn out to be that spend- free husband of hers. Mary Helen's down the block. What's she doing? Oh! Shining an old 1950 Oldsmobile. Wonder why she's doing that, maybe she don't want to get fat. The town has really grown. Our class of '52 has helped out a lot. There's Shir1ey's Beauty Shop-- Buy Kinlaw Milk in back--her sign reads. Speedu Lonely-Hearts Club Building is about the biggest thing in town, with Joyce Gwendolyn Short, manager, owner and operator. And Carolyn Painter's new theater, starring Janet Twick-A-Knee Tomlinson in WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT?--a story of how Jean Ellen Crawford set a new record of time to Tenn. and back. Carolyn Jenkins just opened a permanent skating rink. She was in the Glass business. And thete's Virginia Bridges--just back in town. She is for the Grass-Snakes right or wrong. She is the popular, coach's wife and has started her own team. It takes a Lincoln to carry them all. There's Turner Booth down the block, sitting in the shade taking life easy. He doesn't have to worry about income taxes what with dependents, and Madelena ------ What was her name? Ohl Jattuso fl forgot, it's been changed so long. I wonder how she supports that husband of hers. Here comes Edwina fused to be Judyy with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and into the Post Office she goes hoping to get a letter from her man. Cornelia Patterson really looks important as state census-taker. By the way, she said Groveland has just reached the 10,000 count. Joyce, none other than the Ex-Joyce Hunt was elected the state's ideal housewife. I 0
