'N Our footbaii team was not the oniy successiui N activity. ix The year wiTi be remembered for its van- guatds and sateTiites as weii as its editoriais i on what our schoois are doing and what is wrong, 1 with them. y We trust, that amid ah the excitement of yy modern 1959, you are not shaken from your goai i of achievement which can oniy be gained, not ix by crash programs of any sort, but by consistent work and a steady aim. Very sincereiy, M H .E. Wiison, choois Superintendent of S J OUR PRINCIPALS Mr. Garth Haskins, our Sr. High Principal, is asked many questions. Friendly and practical, he deals with all - from wide- eyed sophomores to worldy-wise seniors. He can usually be found helping someone with his schedule or giving an educational test. Ile deserves a round of applause for the fine job he accomplishes and still keeps the respect and admiration of every student. Mr. Huggins, our Grade Principal, has a job that few people would envy - but, as he handles everything else - he manages this in a capable, efficient manner. Mr. Huggins goes on the theory that if a student understands the problem, he will choose to co-operate and do the right thing on his own. The manner in which Mr. Pritchard, our jr. High Principal, con- ducts all his affairs shows that he is a man of orderliness and precision. All in his day's work is checking attendance of the boys and girls, helping in the planning of student activities and solving the disciplinary problems that often arise in junior High School. somf or EDUCATION These members of the School Board of Grove have obviously devoted much of their own time, without pay, attending to the problems of our school. We are proud of this group of Grove Citizens whodo their utmostto promote better education in the school. Their ever present interest and leadership is indeed an importance to the studen t body. In spite of the fact these men have businesses of their own, they gladly give their valuable time to solve problems of the school administration. This year, first and foremost on the Board's agenda, was the promotion of a better relationship between the citizens of Grove and the student body. Much has been ac- complished through the co-operation of the Board and the Faculty. Hats off to our School Board. Harry Worley, President, Coy Smith, Vice-President, Virgil Potter, Clerk, H.E. To bring into closer relation the home and school that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of the child. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education. A. SUCCESS AT SCHOOL The home provides the foundation for what a child learns at school. The attitudes of the parents toward education and toward the school affect the way a child attacks the jobs of the day. A harmon- ious homelife makes a real contribution to the way children succeed at school. Mrs. Jewell Watson, Mrs. Ruby Clanton, and Mrs. Vernie Clem, turn out good, nutritious meals daily for our hungry mob. They plan varied meals for the 250 students who eat in the lunch room, and prepare festive meals for holiday occasions. These are the men who deliver us safel t d f O Our school buildings are kept shining by our two custodians, Ilurhl Trenary and jim Ilnderwood. Theirs is a never-ending job, as they work through the summer repairing furniture, painting, and mowing the lawns. They also take care of the many numerous tasks which arise from time to time. 1' ' ' gtnfxfflf l ,, , Y0an ro hl.
