Both teams had won seven games each and I-any Hopper - Senior Dwain Vice - Sophomore scoring was about even. The club went into this game End Halfbaclc without scrimmage since the Picher game and without the se.vices of three first stringers. However, Grove scored early in the game, and came away with a smash- ing victory. November I RIDGERUNNERS LOSE IN NON-CONFERENCE GAME WITH WESTVILLE YELLOW JACKETS, 21-20 Coach Davis had nothing but praise for his boys in the Westville game, 'They gave them everything they had, and they're working hard, getting ready for Wyandottef' Trailing by one point in the last quarter, the Ridgerunners put up a stubborn stand and blocked a punt on the 48 yard line, but time ran out on them. November 8 WYANDOTTE BEARS SHOVE RIDGERUNNERS T0 SECOND PLACE WITH I9-6 VICTORY The Wyandotte Bears showed the poise of championship in striking for an early lead against the Ridgerunners and holding them to their lowest offensive record of the season. Grove needed more experience in just a few places to take the Bears. The young club stayed in the game through three quarters and provided the large crowd with plenty of thrills by leading in both rushing and passing yardage until the last frame. November I5 RIDGERUNNERS CLOSE SUCCESSFUL SEASON WITH 26-7 VICTORY AT COMMERCE The Ridgerunners scored three times in the second quarter at Commerce in chalking up their seventh conference victory of another successful season. Coach Davis per- mitted his reserves to play most of the second half after the starting squad pushed quickly to the Tigers' 14 yard line on their first possession of the ball. For a year that was supposed to be devoted to rebuilding', the season was a happy one for Grove fans who set a new fecord in home game attendance. The Ridgerunners scored 226 points to their opponents 37 in conference play. While the club will find some spots hard to fill next year, it has a potent group of sophomores and juniors around which to build. First queen to reign over junior high games was lla Caudill, freshman. ller attendants were Clarinda Daley and Gwen Wright. Flower girl was Diana Longan and crown bearer was Mike Spicer.
