,,,,l,,.-1-, To commemorate the twenty-eighth anniversary of The Grove Public Schools the Ridgerunner staff has selected Oklahoma History--educational and state as a theme for its annual. Thirty years of eager progress has unfolded a bril- liant and fabulous panorama which. in its essence. is Oklahoma. The back-drop of this colorful vision will be forever allied with the American Indian-the wild throbbing of the tom-tcm, the stalwart brave. resplen- dent in paint and feathers. and the shy maiden. Then into the picture there come those of the true and steady heart, the homesteaders in their prairie schooners. They move, a slow and majestic caravan, across the fertile plains of Oklahoma: and in their wake is left cus farm home, the huge red barn, the snowball fields of cotton. Crowding the farmer came the city dweller with his dreams of towering buildings, and life pulsing to the tramp of many and hurried feet. l-lard upon his heels came the earth delver, digging deep wells which pour forth their steady streams of black gold. Now at last the gleam which had burnt faintly but steadily throughout these varied visions burst into a pure white flame--there came the scholar who dreamed of Indian lore. fields of grain and cotton, of great cities, of mineral wealth. only as they are means unto a nobler end-3 wiser and better race. Oklahoma is abloom with secondary schools and colleges and offers its boys and girls the very best in art, literature, and science.
