In the first quarter the Grove City boys led 11 to 9 and 23 to 20 at half time. In the third quarter the Greyhounds scored 16 to their op- ponent's 10 and went on to outscore them in the last quarter 12 to 6. Carl Patzer led the way with 16 points followed by Grant with 14 and Sheets with 12. Grove City's Greyhounds went a long way to come home on the short end of a 33 to 29 score with Corning on November 29. The Greyhounds trailed all the way 11 to 6, 16 to 14, and 26 to 24. Gary Lambert was high for the Greyhounds with 12 points. The Greyhounds lost to Bremen for their second defeat in a row. The score of the game 45 to 28. The game was played on the winner's court December 2, 1947. Bremen was in the lead all the way. Grove City Greyhounds opened the Franklin County League by cover- ing Reynoldsburg December 5, on the loserls floor by the score 44 to 23. Little scoring was done by either team in the first half. Grove City pulled away from Reynoldsburg in the second half, outscoring them, 16 to 4 in the third period. After that, they were never threatened again during the game. Grove City's star center Carl Patzer was high point man for both teams with 14 points. Grove City took its third win of the season defeating Circleville 40 to 34. The Greyhounds took an early lead and retained that lead until the 3rd quarter when Circleville was ahead for the first time. It was a short lead and the Greyhounds managed to come out on top with Patzer being high man with 25 points. The loser's high point man was Smallwood with 9 points. In one of the most hard fought basketball games of this year, the Grove City Greyhounds stopped the fast breaking Worthington Cardinals, Friday December 12, by the score of 38 to 37. The fourth quarter was one of the most thrilling with Grove City scoring then Worthington scoring and tying the game. Grove City managed to come out with a victory over Worthington. Westerville gave the Greyhounds a 51 to 40 defeat on the loser's court on December 16, 1947. Carl Patzer sank 16 points for the losers and Bob Smith got 16 points for the winners. Grove City took its third county win at the hands of Canal Winchester with a score of 35 to 32. Grove City led the entire game up until the last quarter when the game was all tied up 30-30. In the overtime period Grove City went out ahead to take the game with Patzer being high point man with 17 points. The Grove City Greyhounds beat London High 40 to 35, December 23, 1947. The Greyhounds led in the first quarter 9 to 5 and 18 to 15 at half- time. The Greyhounds took a 5 point lead in the third quarter 27 to 22 and scored on even terms in the last quarter. Carl Patzer led the way with 17 points, 8 baskets and 1 free throw. The Greyhounds lost to Dublin, 38 to 36, after winning their first four county league games, on January 6. Dublin led in the first and second quarters by two points. Grove City was in the lead once in the third quarter, but could not keep up with Dubl1n's Al Pinney, who scored three straight baskets, to put the game on ice for Dublin. Eighty-sz'.1'
