1948 ' Ham! The Grove City High School marching band thrilled its spectators last fall when it marched on the gridiron parading snappy new uniforms. Under the direction of Mr. Richard L. Harris, the band gave some en- joyable half-time performances on the local gridiron. Majorette Marian Breckenridge and her assistants, Peggy Kanode, Margaret Ann White, Margie Cox and Colleen Nibert ma- neuvered the band through some intricate formations, such as: a map of Ohio, a merry- go-round, Grandfather's clock, a Greyhound, script-writing of G.C., and others. During the season the marching band trav- eled to Worthington and performed at the game there. The local musicians played host to Hilliards, Mifflin, Reynoldsburg and Groveport. In the summer months of 1947 the band participated in several outside activities. They played for the annual Fire-Fighters benefit baseball game at the Red Bird Sta- dium, Ohio State Fair, Columbus Centennial Parade in which they won second prize, Mount Sterling and Galloway homecomings, and Circleville Pumpkin Show. During the Community Chest campaign they played for a banquet which was held at the Southern Hotel. They wound up a very successful season by marching in the annual Citizen Christmas parade.
