9 - There is more ro o ploy rhon Fridoy and Saturday nighr performances Once auditions are held and the cast is chosen, the process then leads into the rehearsals which indude blocking, memorization, polishing, run-rhrus, technical, dress ond make-up, and finally performance. There is more behind the scenes rhon nervous ocrors The first two weeks were spent blocking the ploy Soskio Dovis, the sroge monoger, wos concerned with every action on ocror mode The ocrors learned where ro go on whor line ond where ro turn, sir. stand ond so forth. The next two weeks were spent memorizing lines No scripts were permitted on stage The ocrors did their best ro remember their lines ond remember where ro go or whor ro do while they said their lines Advisor Miss Derky soys. I wont the ocrors ro analyze their characters ond understand the world rhor the chorocrer lives in Acting s much more rhon just moving ond memorizing lines We work ro create believabiliry ond ormosphere Acting is o difficult art It rokes energy, thinking ond creativity ’’ Therefore, each ocror polished his or her chorocrer through emotions, gestures ond the perfection of on overall attitude The run-thru rehearsals were o rest for the ocrors. They were nor only running their lines ond moving, bur also doing these things os someone else, their chorocrer If I moy fall bods ro the phrase . practice mokes perfect ond it sure did Characters were being perfected form on idea . . ro o living person There were mony crews working on the set for the Matchmaker The sets were wooden. They needed people ro point them ond lorer ro turn them during scene changes There were o numerous amount of props acquired for ormosphere There were girls who worked on finding costumes ond personal props rhor each ocror needed (Of course, the ocrors helped our in the aspects of txxksroge preparation os well) The light crews odjusred lights, focused them ond practiced their changes. Everything from house lights ond curtain ro scenery chonges were practiced over ond over The moke-up ond dress rehearsals were the final steps before the performances Thick make-up wos layered on the ocrors. Each oge line wos drown on Eoch item from feathery hors ond gloves ro bow ties ond top hors were odded to the costumes The ocrors did their best os if these lost rehearsals were the actual performance This is o general view of oil the hord work, long hours, dedication, energy, ond talent rhor was behind the scenes ro present the mognificenr ploy.
