There were a wide variety of activities to keep the GCHS students busy this year. From cooking crepes with French Club to working on the computer with a friend, there was always something to do. Hard practices paid off for the basketball team as we beat Greenville for the Winter Festival queen and her court. An afternoon powder puff football game kept junior and senior girls occupied and attracted parents and faculty as well. The schoolyear was filled with events to keep the students spirit and participation alive. 9

Neckties, Izod shirts, boots, denim, and sweats were just a few of the fad styles displayed at the senior high this year. Also, the students wore many punk rock styles such as mini skirts, short pants, stripes, headbands, and punk-feathered hair styles. The girls began to wear denim jackets and many of the guys showed up at school with pierced ears. Another fashior theme was the preppy look, which featured penny loafers, narrow ties, monogram sweaters and knickers. 10
