STUDENT COUNCIL In an active school, there must be a group to represent the the entire student body and act as a spokesman between fac- ulty and students. This is the purpose of Student Council. LIBRARY AIDES Library Aides perform an important service in Grove City High School. Giving up one or two study periods a week, each member learns to work efficiently at the desk and in the magazine room, takes a turn at shelving books and getting audio-visual equipment, answers students' questions and helps them locate information. Parties, trips, and pro- grams add fun and variety to the club. This year's highlight was a trip to Pittsburgh to shop and to see Camelot. Library Aides are dependable and trustworthy, willing to work, interested in the library, and are reasonably good students. In working for their school, Library Aides are working for themselves, too, as libraries become pleasant places to be and good books become good friends. I was very pleased with our defense and the co-operation of the faculty, administration, and the students, stated new head coach Joe Fusco. Defense was truly the key word for the 1967 Grove City High School Eagles as they finished the season with a 4-2-3 record. Fighting hard all season, the Eagle defense held their opponents to a miserly average of 6.4 points per game. Off to a flying start, the Eagles opened the season with routs over Kennedy Christian and Meadville 27-13 and 20-0 respectively. They then proceeded to top the Oil City Oilers 13-6 on the Oilers' home grid. However, even the greatest things end sometime, and the Titusville eleven beat the Eagles 13-0 after the Eagles tied Reynolds 0-0. Defense,, was proven to be the key word as the varsity tied the no- torious Franklin Knights 7-7. Greenville topped the Eagles in the next outing 19-6. Grove Cityis fourth win was on a shutout over the Sharpsville squad 14-0. Finishing off the season with Hickory, the Eagle defense held for a 0-0 dead- lock. Leading the rushing for the High School squad was Russ Brooks with 86 attempts for a solid 414 yards and 3 Eagle touchdowns. Glenn Mathieson also played well as he had 86 attempts for 298 yards and 3 varsity touchdowns. The team as a whole had 342 rushing attempts for 1,249 yards totalled or a 3.6 yard average per carry. Having the best offensive percentage for the season was Bob Penar with a 792, and close behind was PhilMorris with 7576. ln the scoring depart- ment the Eagles had 3 touchdowns passing, 8 rushing, 1 on a pass interception, and 1 on a fumble recovery. Winding out the scoring was Mike Dodds with 9 extra points out of 13 attempts. Defensively, the Eagles held their opponents to 665 yards rushing or an average of 74 yards per game, and 382 yards passing.
