Each student has his own special moment that will become his fondest high school memory. Perhaps it is the Junior-Senior Prom, a part in the class play, or the gentle understanding of a dedicated teacher. Seniors move out into the future full of confidence and knowledge. With them they take strong bonds of friendships and memories of high school events. The 1967 PINE KNOT enables the student to bring those events back into mind. 4 TABLE OF CONTENTS Administration ......... .. 6- 19 Seniors ........ ....... 2 0- 45 Underclassmen ....... ...... 4 6- 77 Activities ......... ...... 7 8-109 T :E Athletics ......... ...... 1 10-121 5 ADMINISTRATION in ' 2' FACULTY A, Q i School Board Members Mr. E. This is evidenced by extremes found in dress, hair styles, the mobility of people and in the fact that there is a war. Fash- ions and fads can be fun but too fre- quently conceal the searching for a pur- pose I'or living. Our educational program has been an effort to help you find a purpose in life. Nile hope you will use this education as a foundation for achieving your goals. Harold Taylor said, Education is good only as it helps people to enrich and fulhll their lives, both in leading toward personal joy and in leading to- ward the extension of one's talents into modes of helping other people. My wish for the seniors is that you may know the best of the good things that life has to offer. ADMINISTRATIGN Participants in our democracy may be thought of as consumers and producers. So far in life the members of the Class of 1967 have been primarily consumers. They have reaped the benefits of the world's best free educational system. They have also benefited from organiza- tions such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. As the members of this class leave us and begin to take their adult places in society, it is important that they realize that now they should become producers as well as consumers. People are needed to become active in government. Youth groups which make our community a better place to live need workers. Agen- cies concerned with the moral and spir- itual development of our community need new helpers. The challenge is there. Will the members of the Class of 1967 take it? Mr. William Koenig, Assistant Superintendent Mr. Morrison Orr, High School Principal GU I DAN CE .- ,, i Mr. Oscar Paclcn, Assistant High School Principal E ' 'N Mr. john S. Schulw, Cuiclancc Miss Esther Urcy, Guidance 9 The first thing that you should attend to is to speak whatever language you do in its greatest purity and according It is the contention that all people should read. write, and speak a common language, as a basis of international under- standing but since this is a highly improbable situation, we LANGUAGE master these languages which may aid us most in our future. Language is the basis for all of man's activities whether it be in school, business, at home, or around friends. Thoughts which a person thinks may sometimes be spoken but the key to this connnunication is understanding. As the competitive aspect of the world develops, the need for a more extensive knowledge of languages becomes apparent. For this reason English, French, German, Latin, and Spanish are offered to the students of Grove City High School. A scientist must have za questioning nature and an open mind, he must be able to accept new and different approaches to the universe. Mr. John Hummel, Sofia! Studies Mr. Edward Reddinger, Social Studies Understanding is the key to world peace and friendship. A huge place is the world and a complex place, too. From the youth oi' today come our lead- ers, enemies, and friends ol' to- morrow. The greater the under- standing among various people, the greater the friends, the fewer the enemies. Civics gives the freshman an understanding of his home state. XVorld Cultures gives the sophomore a knowledge of w o r l d civilization. American History gives the junior a view of his country's background, and seniors gain a better under- standing of world problems from Problems of Democracy. Mr. Leonard Clarke, Civics Mr. Ronald Stevens, Social Studies Mr. Richard Noel, Geography Mr. Eugene Forker, Social Studies Student Council Adviser Mrs. june Ehrlichman, Social Studies 13 Mr. Frederick Crum, Civics Mathematics is the gate and key of the sciences . . . lect of mathematics works injury to all knowledge, since he who is ignorant of it CLIIIIIOL know the other sciences or the things ol this world. -Roger Hnrolz Some ol' the deepest puzzles that man must face can be solved through mathematics. Possessing a certain beauty and orderliness, this science is one of the most useful and fascinating branches of human knowledge. Ancient philos- ophers used this area ol' knowledge to help them solve nature's mysteries. Today's generation uses it a guide to outer space. In order to educate their students for the space-age, the math department oH'ers Mathematics, Alge- bra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Advanced Mathematics. ATHE ATICS Mr. Richard Sturtevant, Afatlzematics Mrs. Helene Kuhn, Mathematics Mrs. Doris Nichols, Mathematics Miss Lucille Uber, Mathematics , lf x i Mr. James Hassel, Mathematics Mr. Robert Gillgrist, AIl1flIt'I7lflfif'S 14 l The challenge ol the future will be in business, with its technological, human and social factors. Good education for business has never been so widely available as it is today. Business is looking for people who can see the challenge. As a spokesman once said, VVe're trying to impress young people that this really is where the action is. Wlith this accent on business education, the school offers shorthand, typing, bookkeeping, sales and law, and clerical and ofhce practice, giving the young people a better than ever chance to succeed. Mrs. Eleanor Niece, Commercial Mrs. Ruth Wellington, Commercial Miss Alice Coyer, Commercial Future Business Leaders of America Adviser Mrs. Agnes Davis, Commercial SPECIALIZED FIELD Your greatest problem is yourself. You are also your greatest treasure. . lVl'g',lfH1Il7I Great joy there is in creativity. A basic problem of humanity is self-understfinding. As population constantly increases, the indixiduznl tonstantly loses ground. The answer to such ques- tions as Who am I? Where am I going? are becoming constantly elusive. It is the wise individual who can seek within himself to Gnd all the treasure hidden there and to develop them. At Grove City we hate several departments devoted to help- ing the student to develop his creatixe potentials, In the music department the student has the opportunity to perform in the band, chorus or orchestra. Art releases the ever mounting need for self-expression and industrial arts help in acquiring good working habits. Giving up one or two study periods a week, each member learns to work elliciently at the desk and in the magazine room, takes a lltl'l1 at shelving books and getting audio-visual equipment, answers students' questions and helps them locate information. Parties, trips, and programs add lun and variety to the club. Library aides are dependable and trustworthy, willing to work and interested in the library, and also reasonably good students.
