SOCIAL STUDIES To activate an interest, knowledge and understanding of the people of the world, and to show the student how civilization can be bettered through this, is the main principle of the social studies course. In studying world cultures the sophomores are furnished a broad scope of the world as it is at the present; whereas the juniors in American History are given a chance to go into more explicitly the material taught to them in earlier years. The seniors study in problems of democracy the principles of our governmental system, and the items currently pertaining to it. Mr. William Snyder: History Dramatics Club Adviser Mr. James Petrunyak; Geography Mr. Frederick Crum; Civics Miss Clara McCarl; History, Notehand Future Teachers of America Adviser Mr. John Hummel; American History 16

MATHEMATICS In beginning any new study, you are interested in knowing what the study is about and why you should study it. Mathematics is the use of applications of logical reasoning to everyday decisions and discussions. As our knowledge of mathematics increases, we are able to advance far into the space age and other fields of science. Every day new ideas and symbols appear to test the use and knowledge of mathematics. Without mathematics, our nation couldn’t have progressed as far as it has today. Mr. James Hassel; Geometry, Algebra 15 Mr. Dan Remley; Mathematics Mr. Norbert Dennis; Algebra, Trigonometry
