The team has suffered two defeats early in the season but now is beginning to pick up momentum. The team is lead by Frank Lans- dorp,BrianCousineau,Tom Rendina, and Francis Sick. Only one narrow defeat has marred the freshmen harriers record so far this year. The frosh show great hope for the future with with such stars as Tom James, John Flecklau, Eric Thompson, and many more. This is where the ground work for many great varsity teams is laid. i5

BU Ct-P 511 5,1 iii hui 'lui' gsm li LEFT TO RIGHT: F. Fogglano, M. Wilde, B. Fibbs, B. Menzies, B. Akins, M. Proctor, J. Stennet, S. Kirshmann, VIL Larson, P. Olson, L. Walker. This year's Varsity Basketball team can be summed up in two words, young and inexperienced. There were no returning lettermen, and only one player with Varsity experience, Pete Olson. The inability to shoot free throws, and the com- mitting of too many fouls cost the Foothillers three or four valuable games early in the season. With league play just around the corner, the Foothillers found themselves depending on Monte Wilde and Goerge Menzies to carry the burden of the scoring, with Frank Foggiano and Pete Olson setting up the plays. Mike Proctor, John Stennet, Bill Ferguson, Dale Pennock and Mike Cravens were ready for a great deal of rebounding. Two juniors which are ex- pected to improve with experience are Bob Akins and Wayne Larson. The league was tight for second place, with Mount Miguel having first sewn up with their over powering team. Any of the other seven teams were in the running for second, with the Foothillers fighting just as hard as the rest for a spot in CIF competition. ,pu 1,1 , fi is 15 lHjT 4 55240 'lun Coach Shawcroft V Wgq3'SSlZfo,j Blliliililslli 5 S I if El 7, I53
