Lois Kelly Grossmont's English Department strives to instill in Grossrnont students the ability to speak the English language fluently and cor- rectly and develop the art of appreciating the many types of great literature, whether American or European. From the lowly state of a freshman to the lofty height of a senior, the influence of Dickens, Chaucer, Shake- speare, and many contemporary American writers haunts the dusty halls of our school, long after the students have left. It is through the English Departments ceaseless efforts, that we are able to face the challenging world of today, aware of its many enjoy- ments and pleasures.
