This was a question often an the lips of hundreds of students in the City League schools this season. And it's true-Gross- rnont is known for its fine spirit and good sportsmanship throughout the entire city and county. Surely much of this enviable reputation is the result of the tremendous organi- zation of our student body under the direction of our great sang and cheerleaders. They worked hard and made our spirit tops. So, hats off to you, song and cheerleaders, you were great? Q' A 'tg' 19

Our Championship Blue and Gold Band One of the most significant achievements in Grossmont's history was the Sweepstakes Award won by our band for the third time and the winning at last of the permanent trophy, the first and only time o band has been so honored. Competing with high school bands from seven Western states in the spectacular parade at Long Beach, Cali- fornia, Drum Major Sandra Sebby led our Blue and Gold to victory. Precision, instrumental playing of the highest order, and powerful, thrilling tone characterize every performance, and the routines, worked out to geometric perfection, are the marvel of crowds. Without Mr. Lutz, our band leader, working long hours in training for the finer points, and the beautifully designed uniforms, purchased from dona- tions throughout the school and community, we could never have succeeded. Congratulations to the finest high school band in the West! 0ur Band The Pep Band rl n Don Sandra Sebby Shields presents the Long Trophy to Mr. Lutz. .gl W x .f Beach ,4 4-1 ,,rN 1 Y
