Student leaders have an ex- cllent record this year in getting wide parti- cipation in school government. 887, of the student body were A.S.B. members while all were encouraged to voice their opinions in the Foothill Echoes and Student Council meetings and take active part in school clubs and events. Charles Kent Although out of school tor part ot the year, our A.S.B. President, Kent, is responsible tor rnuch ot the hard work and good morale ot the Board ot Commissioners. The example ot his 'Frank and op- timistic manner ot tacing a ditticult situation has served as a lesson we will never forget. Charles Estrada Faced with one ot the most frequently criticized Student Body jobs, Chuck has been more than ade- quate in providing us with varied assemblies and dances. Alice Clark As the able Commissioner ot Finance, and the Chairman ot the Commission in the absence ot Chuck Kent, Alice Clark was a busy girl. She carried out her many duties cheerfully and etticiently. By her triendly spirit, Clarkie made it lots more fun tor everyone who worked with her. Lucille Flournoy We owe our smooth elections, 6.9.6. Board, ac- tivities, and A.S.B. dances largely to the efforts ot the Commissioner ot Welfare. Ludy has served us 'F well in this capacity. IS' Genevieve Turncc Genevieve has done a bigger job much better than most ot us realize. She is responsible for that top notch A.S.B. card sales campaign, many extra- special posters, and good publicity in the Foothill Echoes and San Diego papers. CLASSY CLERICALS Lois Geddes, l-listorian, tias lcept a scrapbook ot tl'ie years Student Body events tor tuture reterence. Joraye Crawtord has been a taittitul and etticient A.S.B. Clerl4. One ot the widest and most important ot- tices ot all is tlwat ot if the ticlcet supervisor and assistant, Betty Clwivas and Ken Blaclc. GRIPEIHANDLERS A new organization, the Student Advisory Council was tliis year made an otiicial body under tlfie supervision ot the Commission. Council members netted 5550 in the Marctr ot Dimes campaign, lwave organized trail trattic patrols, and l'iold lively discus- sions on current sctiool problems at eacli ot their meetings. dhgiurgur-3 t BOBBIE GOULD PLANETARY JUSTICE lm 31 Y til, ? lt. ,W ,hg.. ., gov.. Sorne ot the year's many activities in- cluded a Pa-Ma-Me banquet, a traditional Facul-Tea, a successful dance, and sev- eral entertaining assernblies. Closing the year they sponsored a get-acquainted day tor tuture Grossrnonters. swww BOBBIE GOULD 'xxx Ml MARS' MISTERS The Boys' Federation gave a protitable year ot service to the school. Beginning with the Frosh welcome in September, activities included supervision ot tootball games, presentation ot the Autumn Prom, supervision ot hall trattic, and the Christ- mas Giving Campaign and senior scholarship, joint projects with the Girls' League. BUD HELD R. Longman, R. Spence, G. Coleman, B, Held, N. Freeman, D, Baller, D. Newton. The Witches Wiggle was one ot the most colorful dances ot the year, a gay masquer- ade, with many not knowing who, or what! Football wouldn't be really football, how- ever, without the addition ot the traditional group and color of the band and drill team. organizations which are excellent at Gross- mont. CALENDAR OF EVENTS l-lazing is a little ditticult it you happen to be a freshman, but just thinlc ot what you can do to the new arrivals next year! And just what is our favorite sport? For which do we get out ot school, tloclc to the tield, scream our heart and lungs out, and wear our blue and yellow clothes to- gether? Football, ot course! Active dernocravv at worlx-a great ma' iority ot Grosamonters are student body members and participate wholeheartedly in student government activities. The G.A.A. Banquet is one Ot the out- standing events ot the year-a mothers and daughters annual dinner. The Faculty Assembly is hilarity incar- nate. Our teachers have talent too-great musicians, dynamic actors ancl actress, mov- ing orators, and thrilling singers. April lst is Taclcy Day when Grossmonters let imagination run wild and come to school in costumes representing everything from Moon Men to Siamese Twins. The annual Pan American Ball is one ot the big social events ot the year. The high- light ot the evening is the crowning ot the queen.
