THE C. S. F. The California Scholarship Fed- eration, advised by Miss Dorothy S. Cooke, inaugurated a card file for circle G points and carried on a magazine selling campaign to raise money to be awarded a senior as a scholarship to State College. Officers during the two semesters were: Elsie Gough, president, Mar- jory McKinney and Stanley Clark, vice presidents, Peggy Peters and Mildred Durham, secretaries, and George Mukai and Evalyn Walker, treasurers. Twenty-six THE N. F. L. Composed only of the outstand- ing' participants in speech activity, the local chapter of the National Forensic League has acted under the advisership of Mr. LaZelle Smith. Membership into this or- ganization is based upon points earned t h r o u g h interscholastic speech competition. QUILL AND SCROLL Climaxing this year's activities the Grossmont Chapter of Quill and Scroll, honorary journalism so- ciety, acted as host for the annual County Quill and Scroll Banquet. The chapter also cooperated with the C. S. F. in revising the Hand- book published last year. Miss Dorothy S. Cooke is the adviser of this group. For the year othcers were: Raymond Foster, presidentg Ben Clay, vice president, Victor Howard, secre- taryg and Dick Grau, treasurer. Mr. George Harkleroad, Mr. George McCoy, and Mr. Albert Bowen are the advisers. The Hi-Y and Girl Reserves held in conjunction a Mothers' and Fathers' Banquet, a Christmas for- mal dance, and several dinners. Q. GIRL SCOUTS The Mount Helix Girl Scout Troop No. 57, is divided into two groups: the Moon-glow and Wood- chucl-: Patrols, with Elsie Gough and Marion Rogers as leaders, re- spectively. Dorothy Gough is scribe, and Peggy Lou Blodgett, treasurer. During the year a bazaar and sev- eral -hikes and dinners were held, and the Girl Scouts at Rest Haven were helped. Miss Beulah Shriver is captain, Miss Josephine Koll- myer and Mrs. Carol Gates are Lieutenants. GIRL RESERVES To create, maintain and extend throughout the school and com- munity high standards of Christian living is the purpose of the Y organizations. The Girl Reserves' activities in- cluded d res s i ng dolls for the Christmas giving, spending many week-ends at Camp Kiwanis, and sponsoring a Benefit Bridge.
