'izffxl degree of success in any l enterprise depends upon the support given it. George . Washington, the illustrious Father of our Country, himself, attained to success only through loyal support from his countrymen. So, with this, our own special problem, the publication of the 1932 EL RECUERDO, the co-opera- tion of the entire school with the Staff has been necessary to produce a successful book. To that spirit of co-operation- from student body, faculty and adminis- tration-we owe any degree of success we may have achieved. We, the Staff, hope only that our efforts will gratify your expectations and furnish you a lasting and pleasing record of the year's activities. y iN George Washington, whosc it bicentennial the world l pleases this year to honor, we : gl find embodied those enno- bling characteristics of wisdom, sympathy, leadership, and high ideals of service, which earned him rightfully the proud title, Father of His Country. Beside the name of Washington, we feel it fitting to place the name of one in our midst in whom we see repeated these characteris- tics-a man who leads firmly but under- standingly, unhesitating but patiently, and who leaves the mark of his personality upon every student who knows him. To Mr. I.aZelle Smith the Twelfth Edition of EL RECUERDO is gratefully dedicated.
