Ella Smith won 1 st in the 400 m dash with a time of 56.3 The 800m relay consisting of Patrice Phillips (Alternate), Ruby Smith, Robin Roach, Dawn Wilson, Ella Smith was unable to finish the race because Ella Smith broke her leg on the last 100 yds. The relay was won by Bellville, a team we had beaten 4 times earlier in the year. The 1600m relay consisting of Ruby Smith, Scarlet Thomas, Robin Roach, Dawn Wilson came in 1 st with a time of 3:56.3 The fastest time the 880 yd. relay ran this yr. was 1:42.18. The fastest time the mile relay ran this yr. was 3:54.78. The members of the girl’s track team who participated in the State Meet appreciated all the people who were in Austin to support them.
