MQ x 19 sl 'X AS TIME GOES BY 1952 1953 In the year 1952 a great event occurred at Grsswold Hsgh School we the class of 1956 arrsved It was an honor sndeed to be fortunate enough to purchase tsckets to the bowlsng alleys and swsrnmsng pool Our books the thsckest ones sn the school st seemed often were arranged to fall on our heads as we opened our lockers We know now that that was all part of besng Freshmen One of the hsghlsghts of the year was our fsrst class meetsng Robert Lucser was chosen to lead us as our fsrst class pressdent wsth vsce pressdent Judsth Bogle secretary Dorothy Addy and treasurer Hsldegarde Kretschmer We hoped our treasury would get rsch qusck on S2 50 dues Curly Davss got the magazsne campasgn underway but sn spste of our excellent salesmanshsp and eagerness we somehow got nosed out by the money hungry upperclass men and lost Taksng the consequences however we put on a samboree wsth enter tasnment refreshments and dancsng and we ensoyed every msnute of st 1953 1954 As Sophomores we were on the second round of our ladder Wsth the Freshman class beneath us we felt more grown up Now we sold tsckets to the swsmmsng pool and bowlsng alleys to the wsde eyed Freshmen Electsng .lohn Papsns Judsth Bogle Hsldegarde Kretschmer and Dorothy Addy as pressdent vsce pressdent secretary and treasurer our Sophomore year was underway Of course we made ssmply loads of money when we were Freshmen but sust the same we put our dues up to S3 OO and launched our fabulous udge sales Our Sophomore year followed a pattern of studses exams sports and dances We were wsse and foolssh but I hope as the year went on we had all become a lsttle wsser 1954 1955 Now we had the tstle of Junsors And what a year that was' Joseph Osga Russell Gaudette Dorothy Addy and Patrscsa Rasll took offsce as pressdent vsce pressdent secre tary and treasurer As customary we sponsored our Csnderella Prom on November 19 Our prom com msttee dsd a really great sob on the decoratsons and plannsng and dancsng to Ralph Lse pold s Orchestra was a wonderful change from our Sox Hops The hsghlsght of the year was ordersng our class rsngs We could hardly wast for shesr arrsvall Belseve me we made sure that every underclassman saw thesr sparklsng green stones The honor of attendsng Boys Nutmeg State was gsven to John Papsns and Walter Sawsckt Our Laurel Gsrl Staters were Hsldegarde Kretschmer and Dorothy Addy Preparsng for our bsg year ahead we chose the Warren Kay Vantsne Studso as our Yearbook photographer 1955 1956 Now we were carefree Sensors and hoped that everythsng we dsd would be a success Joseph Osga Hsldegarde Kretschmer June Matson and Patrscsa Rasll were honored wsth the tstle of class pressdent vsce pressdent secretary and treasurer Our Sentsnel staff was chosen early sn the year and they got rsght down to thesr dutses Havsng chosen the Taylor Co to publssh our yearbook we were rearsng to go Thss tsme when the magazsne campasgn got underway we Sensors applsed all of our 55l95m5f15l1'P and persuassve abslsty We won the campasgn fasr and square As Sensors we found that we were buddsng actors and actresses and we dsd our utmost to prove st As a result our Sensor Play went over wsth a bang Our Sensor Ball held sn the merry month of May was socsally a bsg success After cramrnsng for our last exams at G HS we expersenced the soy and sadness of our Sensor Banquet Our class trsp could not eassly be forgotten although the end of our school days at G H S vsas fast approachsng f Fsnally Graduatson came but sn all honesty we were sad at leavtng GHS Yes after OUV YGGVS of mOansng and groansng about homework tests and exams we suddenly Eealszed that thss was the last tsme we would walk through the halls of Grsswold ln our our years we had expersenced the many good tsmes that come wsth learnsng and worksng wsth each other True we would go our separate ways but we would always remember the sdeals we had found there We wsll always cherssh the memorses of our days at G H S Marte Roode Q11 5 1 , .4 0 X X6 1 H w ,,. . ,..ll ' Q ,ui Nd!
