Its basic purpose is to serve these girls and the entire school by broadening both the educational and social interests of the girls. It is an asset to GHS in many ways. The cabinet hands out classification cards at the beginning of each semester, sponsors bi-weekly programs, and has a special event for each class. They are also respon- sible for decorating the Christmas tree in the main hall. The courtesy chairman sends card to those people in high school who are sick and gives a rose to each teacher on his birthday. The Boone contest was one of the most unusual games in Grinnell High school history. Because of a wrong decision of the referee, the game was replayed from the beginning of the fourth quarter. The game ended with Boone out in front with a score of 21-13. The highlight of the season was theliomecoming victory over Newton 20-18 which climaxed the festivities. at 51. Paul Jones, who completed his second year at GHS, coached the Tigers to a commendable season.
