HOMECOMING This year's Homecoming was one of the biggest and most successful in the history of the school. It started out with a bang on Thursday night with a big pep rally and snake dance at Davis School. On Friday there was the usual pep as- sembly and then the Homecoming parade af- ter school. Many high school organizations, with the help of local merchants, entered floats in the parade. The Queen and her attendants rode in flashy convertibles, fol- lowed by the floats, the team, the band and pep club, and the student body. That night the Tigers were hosts to Osky. The crowning of the Homecoming Queen took place at half time. Orenelensen became 1954 Queen with Nancy Ullrich, Bev Hanson, Dotty Rayl, and Marilyn Lauber as attendants. The Queen's radiance affected the fortunes of the Tigers. They came out victorious, 27 - 13. After the game was the annual Home- coming, and this time, victorious, dance. TIGERS HAVE BEST SEA This year was a very successful one in GHS football. With the winning of their first conference football game in eight years as the main headline, the defenders of the Orange and Black finished strong with a victory string of three intact. Prior to the Oskaloosa game their luck seemed to rim in the wrong channels, but after a convincing victory it seemed to change directions and flow the right way, After the teamgot rolling, they did a very good job of living up to their namesake the TIGER.
