The F.F,A. program provides training and exper- ience in leadership. Each year the boys elect officers who attend at least one officers' training school dur- ing their period of service. The boys serve on numer- ous committees. and conduct their meetings in accord- ance with accepted parliamentary procedure, Each month they contribute one page of F,F.A. news to a thirty page district news bulletin. Freshmen boys are initiated into Greenhand membership and become Chapter Farmers early in their sophomore year. As a reward for outstanding achievement and scholarship, boys may be elected to the Iowa Farmer degree. one bov in twenty being eligible to apply for this degree, Another award for outstanding achievement is presented by the DeKalb Agricultural Association. Their program also provides for some recreation, Basketball is at the top of the list, although everyone anticipates the hav ride held soon after school opens in September. Other activities include a fox hunt. swimming parties. coasting parties and softball. Boys are encouraged to accumulate an agricultural library of books and bulletins and magazine clippings and pictures. For the past eight years zach senior boy has been given a book or books. paid for from the FFA. treasury. on agricultural subjects by recog- nized authors. to add to this library. F. F. A.
