Snyder CLASS HISTORY In September of l9hS, Mrs. Ivah Butler welcomed eight frightened first graders: Carol Baer, Dennis Bohrofen, Irwin Carr, Larry Osterhout, Daisey Madison, Twila Seibert, Karen Wiles, and Rudy Wipperman. Mrs. Butler led these inquisitive youngsters through the second mile of the road of knowledge. During this second mile Irwin Carr left the group, and Winnie Madison, James Tuttle, Barbara Booher, and Ronald McDowell joined it. The children were guided through the third and fourth mile by Mrs. Helen Briggs. The class lost one member, James Tuttleg and gained members, Marvin Bauman, Joseph Kussatz, Doris Ann Bohrofen, Roger Bartelt, and Janis Bohrofen. The youngsters, now self-assured fifth graders, were greeted the next year by Miss Pagliai, who was to help them struggle through the fifth and sixth miles of the road. During those two miles, Nancy Lutz and Billy Jones made brief, but pleasant, appearances in the class. Dolores Higens made a more permanent addition, Mr. Erps, with some help from Mrs. Paul Smith, conducted the class through the seventh mile. No new travelers joined the caravan during that year. During the eighth mile, the class was piloted by Mrs. Margaret Wilson. Barbara Booher left the swiftly moving group and Francis Guess joined it. Fourteen pupils reached the milestone of eighth grade graduation. Fifteen worried freshmen: Carol Baer, Marvin Bauman, Dennis Bohrofen, Dolores Higens, Roger Bartelt, Daisey Madison, Winnie Madison, Larry Osterhout, Twila Seibert, Louise Stefani, Francis Guess, Karen Miles, Rudy Wipperman, Janis Bohrofen, and Doris Ann Eohrofen, entered the four mile highway of high school. The group was aided by their sponsor, Mrs. Schlueter. The second mile of this highway found the students, now sopho- mores, happy and confident now that the rigors of their freshmen era were over. Mr. Cramer sponsored the group during this second mile. Roger Bartelt and Larry Osterhout left the troop of explorers during the third mile. Mrs. Olney guided the group through that year of their journey. In September of 1955 twelve seniors: Carol Baer, Marvin Bauman, Dennis Bohrofen, Doris Bohrofen, Janis Bohrofen, Dolores Higens, Delsey Madison, Twila Seibert, Louise Stefani, Karen Wiles, Francis Guess, and Rudy Wipperman, started the last mile of their journey. They were led by their sponsor, Mr. Kallemyn. Six pupils: Carol Baer, Dennis Bohrofen, Daisey Madison, Twila Seibert, Karen Wiles, and Rudy Wipperman have traveled all twelve miles of the road of knowledge together. She was knocked down by Rudy as she tried to enter a department store. Rudy had just made a wad selling Wblue sky stockn, so he asked her to lunch. The following is an excerpt from their conversation: DAISEY: Well, Rudy, what have you been doing with yourself lately? RUDY: I made my own money machine and business is pretty good right now. How've you been doln'? DAISEY: My husband is an executive at John Deere. We've just bought a new house in Waterbury Circle. The twins are in third grade and the triplets have just started to school. I wonder what happened to the rest of the gang? RUDY: Well, Buck is in the hospital. A pig bit him on the leg. 'Phe doctor is testing Marvin for rabies, but he says that the pig was just mad because he hadn't won the blue ribbon at the hog show, that Buck was judging. I also saw Doris Ann. She's head nurse on that floor. She says she's going to marry the Chief of Staff next month. DAISEY: I heard from Janis last week. She's been working for Molly Parness as a fashion designer. She said that she was taking a six months leave of absence to help Christian Dior with the new 'W look. RUDY: I stopped at a filling station on my wav into town. I saw Fran there. He's got a whole chain of Texaco 66 stations. He said he had invented a new chamols for easier windshield washing. Say, look who's coming! It's Karen Kismet! DAISEY: Who is she? I never heard of her. RUDY: Oh, you know, she used to be Karen Wiles. She sings with her huebandb band. It's called Bob Hailey and his Satellites. KAREN: Hello, Dahlings. Fancy meeting you here! It's been 'eons and eonsn. RUDY: Siddown, Babe. We were jawin' about the old gang. Seen any of 'em lately? KAREN: Carol wrote me from Miami last week. She's Dean of Women and head of the Physical Education Department. Poor dear, she's terribly absent-minded. She mailed her bi-focals in her letter and she can't see a thing with out them. Of course you know what Louise is doing. She travels with me as my personal psycho-analyst. DAISEY: Oh, really? Have you had any good complexes lately? BUDY: When I was out West last summer I stopped at a big museum of antique cars. Never saw so many beat hacks in my life. Dennis was there. He was running up and down the halls yelling 'Don't touch them cars! You want 'em to fall apart?' Dennis told me he owned the place. KAREN: Poor Dolores. She is leading a terribly drab life. I hear she's a secretary for a small insurance firm. She seems to be quite happy, though, with her husband and five children. What a dull existence! DAISEY: She may be leading a dull life but Twila certainly isn't. Have you seen all the posters with her picture on them? RUDY: What do they say? Wanted for bank robbery? DAISEY: No, you dope! She's running for the United States Senate. I'm helping her campaign. KAREN: Well, that's nice, I suppose, but I'm really not very interested in politics. I am more interested in culture and the finer things in life. Egad! Look at the time! I'm an hour late for rehearsal. By dahlings. DPISFY: Rattle, rattle, rattle! She's a case! RUDY: Well, doll, I guess I better bug out of here, too. See you around. DAISEY: I still have a lot of shopping to do. Drop in to see us any time you're in town. SE l0R CLASS PLAY ONE FOR THE MONEY The Senior Class successfully presented the play 'One For The Money.' To look at Drusilla Baird one would never have suspected that her head was buzzing with romantic daydreams. She had rather nice features, but she was always so busy doing the drudgery and being the family flunkey, that she didn't have much time to improve her personal appearance. However 'the worm turnedn and the exciting events which followed provided a very entertaining evening. Hrs. Allie Prescott.. Helen Pr9SCOtto 0 o 0 o 0 o Barbara Prescott..... Randy Prescott....... WA Feudin' Over Yonder' revolved around the Popoff family and the Fry family. These two families had been feuding for years because one of the Popoff boys said he was going out to shoot an old skunk one day and accidentally shot Paw Fry instead. Periodically Mountain Maggie, a legendary character who traveled around the hills nursing the sick, came to patch up someone hurt in the feud. Rosie Belle Fry, being handy with a gun, took the only unattached male in the hills from under her sister Emmy's nose. Em y who wanted to get Whitchedn, decided she'd end up as an old maid if she didn't get one of the Popoff boys. She enlisted the aid of Mountain Maggie, who's tired of tending to victims of the feud, to put an end to it. Mountain Maggie, wise in the ways of human nature, convinced Maw Fry and Pappy Popoff that some plain sugar water she ggvg them was a 'love potion' which made them fall in love. They were tired of being lonely and had just about decided to marry and end the feud, when Rosie Belle arrives with the news that it was all a trick. Once more the feud was going full force. In the end, of course, the feud was ended and everybody was happy, but not before there are quite a few merry mixups and rib-tickling situations. PLAY CAST Mountain Magg1e.......
