There are six of these students who have attended Grimes School through all the grades and high school. These are Larry Seibert, Melvin Wiles, Roger Bloomfield, Ruth Kinsey, Lloyd Peitzman, and Sylvia Pinegar. Bruce Andrus entered our class in his fifth year but left in his eighth. James Biddle and Marilynn Bohrofen entered our class in the sixth grade. They both came from country schools. We entered high school with eleven members. They were James Biddle, Roger Bloomfield, Marilynn Bohrofen Ronald Hays, Ruth Kinsey, Lloyd Peitzman, Sylvia Pinegar, Jerold Plumb, Larry Seibert, David Wiese, and Mel Wiles. we miss David Wiese, who started with the six who have always gone to Grimes and left in his sophomore year. Also Ronald Hays was a hard one to lose. le were glad to have Bruce Andrus return in his junior year to finish high school with us. As for the others that have come and gone, there isn't anything to say but that we wish they could have launched forward with us during the bright ,ll f7 s?MM year of 1954. o 0 I 1 UMWAWW fm! U15 ! We, the Senior Class, will the remains of our old school books to the un- lucky people who follow us and hope they will put them to good use. 2. Ruth wills her ability to get along with the superior sex like she does, to Carolyn Kallem. 3. Marilynn wills her ability to study to Rudy Wipperman. 4. Jim Biddle wills his glasses to Betty Tuttle. NShe's cuteu, says Jim, 5. Bruce wills his hydramatic to Allen Guess. He and Kay need it. 6. Larry wills his athletic ability to Lavern Grief. Z. Mel wills his temper to Carolyn Kallem--she needs it, doesn't she? . Sylvia leaves her ability to keep her man to Dixie--she can't thrill all the boys. That's a monopoly. 9. Lloyd wills his ability to write news to Beverly Boston--she hangs around all the time to learn. 10. Ruth wills her Buick to the junior girls--hope they can drive. ll. Roger wills his wavy hair to Norman Watson. 12. Jerold leaves his long legs to Charlie Stefani. 13. Marilynn wills her soft tone to the junior girls--they need it. 14. Jim Biddle wills his I. Q. to Larry Osterhout. 15. Buzz wills his ability to stay out of trouble with the law to Dennis B. 16. Bruce wills his ability to get out of school to the Junior boys--poor boys will have to stay in school. lg. Larry Seibert wills his destructive nature to Eldon S.--he needs it. 1 . Mel wills the Granger boys to the Junior girls. 19. Sylvia wills her talking ability to Twlla Seibert. 20. Lloyd wills his stale jokes to all who can't afford a joke book. 21. Roger wills his ability to get alone with the opposite sex to Joe House. wana? James Biddle is a major in the Air Corp. He started out in the Air Guard as a senior in Grimes. He finally found the apple of his eye and has three little Jets of his own. While serving, he became a hero and is e noted officer. This is all well and fine but we still know him. Roger Bloomfield has done well to have spent just six years at a four year course in college. He is now selling hair pins to bald headed women. Roger hasn't married. He says Hwhy please one when you can please all?W Marilynn has started a school for perfect posture. She has been very suc- cessful as a business woman, but the biggest surprise is that she married a business tycoon on one of her business trips east. Lloyd Peitzman after attending journalism school has finally landed a job at the Register and Tribune as a copy boy. He also gives the station breaks at KUG at 3:30 A-M- He isn't a bachelor however, to our surprise. Larry Seibert did very well at Vet School and is now a vet in Africa. He is studying on monkeys and apes. Jerold Plumb is relaxing in Tampa, Florida. H15 wife, an attractive young business woman, has done very well for him. Some do, and some don't have it so good but it seems his dreams have come true. Ruth Kinsey married one of her school day heart throbs. He is a member of the U. S. Air Force. While spending time with five little pilots, she hasn't had time to fulfill her ambition of teaching. Sylvia Pinegar is married and has a job as a private secretary at Inter national Harvester. Having worked there for years she finally got her husband a Job as manager. Pat is working very hard to fulfill the ambition of his lovely wife. Ambitions have been fulfilled by a set of twin DOYS. Mel Wiles went to Drake and married a very dramatic woman. Mel belives nthey're cheaper by the dozen.W These two factors are slowly taxing his great mind. He is running his father's business and doing very well at it. Bruce attended Harvard for twelve years studying law. While on his honey- moon, he went to see Larry in Africa. He became interested in the theory of the survival of the fittest. GRAMS ' S J LIL? ,341-. H :1 'A Sealer mess Hman a The Seniors of Shu crowned their dramatic career in high school by their presentation of the play 'The Show Must Go Onn on April 9. This play was the thirdgroduction offered by the class during their fouryears and they were highly successful in displaying their unusual talent as players. THE SHOW MUST GO ON IO Mr.Stanley is a fairly successful business man who operates an awning factory in Centerville. He lives in deadly fear for his talented daughter whom he thinks may want to become an actress. He has never permitted her to be in school plays using the excuse that it would interfere with her studies. The senior class play was a huge successso they decided to organize a dramatic club for the summer. Because of her exceptional dramatic ability, Ruth is invited to Join, which she does. She 9IP00t8 clear sailing as her mother champions the cause but her father uses his utmost ingenuity and skill to make the dramatic club a failure. Because of his underhanded schemes, the play looks hopeless and they decide to call it off but RUthB fifteen year old brother comes to the rescue. He takes matters in his own hands and wires his uncle, a director in Hollywood and tricks him into making a visit at this time. He is persuaded to tak: over and in three days puts on a wonderful production of 'The Girl from Dixie. Donald earns great distinction for himself as play manager and Ruth finds her Jim more alluring than either Hollywood or Broadway. The topic of the hour was the new dean, Charles Bradley Brown, whose arrival was momentarily expected. In pops a new student, one Dean Brown, unmindful of his many shortcomings, yet frank and breezy as youth can be. His name electri- fies the group of students and then the fun market begins doing business. Dean is assigned one of the girls as his secretary. The Registrar persists in giving Dean an advance on his salary. Poor guy, he's overthrown in a maelstrom of riotous happenings that are chaotically bewildering. When the real dean comes along he's mistaken for an escaped lunatic which really causes great conster- nation. Gloria, the secretary comes to Dean's rescue and all ends happily. Here we found five subjects to choose from: algebra, English, science, Jr. business training, and manual training. From this list we were to choose four. Soon after school started we elected class officers. They were as follows: Jim Tuttle--President Dixie Robertson--Vice President, Kay Adrain Secretary, and Patricia Seibert--Treasurer. Mrs. Schlueter is the class sponsor. On September 28 initiation was held. The seniors provided the ideas for the costumes and the freshmen followed them out explicitly. There was the annual night session and refreshments were served, but of course, the initiated cleaned up the mess and we went home. This meant that we were full fledged members of the high school. Kay and Dixie went out for basketball. Norman, Jim, and Donald went out for football and baseball. Norman and Jim were the only boys out for basket- ball. All who participated did a remarkable job. Betty, Karen, and David played in the band. All the girls with the excep- tion of Batty sang in glee club, and Betty was a cheerleader. This page is sponsored by G. I. G. Shambaugh, D. D. S.
